Personally my plan is to go offline before reviews drop and stay offline until i've slept on the movie, because if the reviews are good it'll be a good surprise and if they're bad i'll want to avoid the wave of "reeeeeeee critics don't know what they're talking about and they're only hating on it because they have a vendetta against the fans"

I don't forsee myself disliking the movie as someone who likes the first and even disagrees with many of the criticisms against it, but fans are always more annoying than critics in these instances because they take scores too personally and think they're supposed to be definitive declarations of quality instead of guides for people looking to be informed about a product before paying

It really only takes a few things for me to enjoy the movie.

Because people are desperate for characterisation in fnaf. We really have very few fleshed out characters in the series- none of the MCI really have personalities or motives, Henry is essentially a nonentity- Mike is potentially a compelling redemption arc but again, people can’t even agree on that since details are so sparse. William is the main villain and we still aren’t sure why he did any of it or what he was like as a person, adding some texture, making him a troubled and flawed man with vices- you can see why people cling onto that, it makes the story feel human. I also agree with you on the stigmata thing, it is clearly supernatural, the company can’t explain why mucus and blood is appearing on the suits, its a ghostly echo of the evil that happened (similar to them stuffing you into a suit- the whole endoskeleton thing was always a red herring- they are doing to the night guard the same thing that happened to them, it’s revenge, it’s the same crime echoing through reality as with the blood/ smell). But I agree, I also like MM just because it still feels unsolved, it adds ambiguity and things to talk about. I have often wondered why something like LOTR does not get much fanfiction despite a very fleshed out world, and I think certainty is part of that. If we know too much about the history, the sequence of events and mechanics of the world, there’s little room for us to imagine, there is no “fog of time” which lets us debate and speculate. MM has been the source of so much compelling fan canon that it makes it a narrative success, despite the fact it probably conveyed scott’s actual intent very poorly.

I think the autism of “I can prove I am correct with these details” is the fire that motivates many people in life (I would know, doing what I do for a living). I agree it’s obnoxious, but it’s what compels a lot of these people to make theories, so they can have all their mental ducks in a row and achieve clarity, it makes you feel as though you have made chaos into a structure you can grasp onto. And I agree, I daydream constantly and only recently started channeling that into making my own story- I would say it’s like any other job. Creative people don’t just have creative thoughts, they are workers and doers mainly. Whip yourself into a habit if you have creative ambitions, that’s the best advice anyone can give you, and don’t be afraid of humiliation because you need criticism.

The best thing you can do with FNAF canon is ignore the parts you don't like and make up your own headcanon version that suits your specific narrative.

Personally if you ask me the most fitting Hell would be William being tortured for eternity by the one person he promised to "put back together".
