The dark surge is the hidden story of the main map that started the entire thing and the assassin is the main character of that story. He is the assassin that killed the ambassador and broke the alliance, also the monk dealt with the buddhas etc, you just won't know until you read and find these things. I unironically have the fan equipped even in boss fights, even thought I barely get that much usage out of it in most fights. The damage windows is so short anyway so having a second weapon doesn't seem that useful to me. Strategic sword+mystic skills do the work. What are you guys using for bosses?
