I think that for Sen they had a rough outline of things they wanted to do - regarding Crow, Rean, Osborne and DKs. Everything else seems to be a dart throw, especially character writing. Given the games we got I just can't help but think Falcom did nothing more than chase trends, especially from Atlus and popular anime, which led to the quasi social sim bullshit Sen got injected with. I think they thought coping Persona was an instant recipe for success, and as we know, it kinda was, but then again the lost 90K players in Japan with the arc. Kuro is more of the same, maybe even worse - no rough outline beyond time shenanigans with the Genesi, a very rough outline of each character, then they thought they could shit out a quick cashgrab to work on Ys, and Kai felt rushed while being too busy addressing problems. Kuro's focus on "addressing problems" has resulted in another weak arc IMO. The one difference between it and Sen is that I really don't see how I could improve or want to improve character writing in that game because some characters, Elise chief among them, do not work for me at all, but I can see where they wanted to take the story and think they fumbled the execution. Conversely for Kuro, I do not know how to move the arc at all, but I have a better impression of the cast and seeing them pissing in the wind 2 games straight is frustrating because I think they finally nailed a good cast again and I have thought of were I want every character but Bergard to go.

Just beat Sky on Nightmare with the level modifier. Probably the hardest thing I have ever done in this series, granted I never played any of the first 5 games on Hard. After Bose, enemies started getting harder and when they get a rage boost even if you have close to or over 100% evasion they can hit you and usually for half your health. Every counter hit also hits hard. The Kanone segment when you breach the castle and fight Loewe at the end was the hardest part of the game. The rest was relatively simple. I missed the Platinum trophy because I didn't kill 600 enemies in Field Combat or kill 50 S-Poms; in two playthroughs I barely killed a little more than 30. Is Fast Traveling to respawn enemies and then running to where they are the only way to do that?Anyways, I agree with people saying the quality of the translation dips after the prologue. The "Ms/Mr." thing with Kloe being very weird, when Joshua says Schera-san and yet that is never translated as "Ms. Schera." Still, a very good game. Doubt I will plat it though lmao. I like the music in both too. I can't really say which I think is outright better. Both to me are good versions of a very outstanding game. Translation-wise, I think Xseed did a way better job. Quippy Estelle and GungHo Estelle don't really feel all that different to me in terms of personality so I don't mind the quips. I think Trails has been extremely hit or miss since CS2 but with Calvard especially it feels like they've just increasingly gave up on the series and it now feels completely directionless. The games can still have good moments but I'm not really as fulfilled as I used to be when a Trails game ends anymore. Nowadays I usually just feel exhausted and underwhelmed and kind of ripped off. I'm not really hyped for Kai 2 because I just get the feeling that they don't care anymore. And it saddens me a lot man because I really did used to love this series like nothing else but every new Kiseki game feels like I'm attending a funeral. Maybe it's good that they're taking a break (even though doing it after a cliffhanger instead of resolving the arc first feels pretty cheap) because they clearly just lost all passion and creativity for this series and the fact that they're now just remaking everything basically confirms that. As I said I did enjoy the Sky remake but I've also already played these games before so it's not really something to look forward to.I think the series just buckled under its own weight. Falcom relied on it too heavily for the last decade and it's come back to bite them. I honestly don't know if the series even can be revitalized. I hope they at least genuinely try instead of half assing it but as it stands right now I think Kai 2 will be the last Trails game I play until the series is entirely finished because I don't think I can stand following it yearly anymore.
