Kirby when I was a kid was just a stupid pink marshmellow that ate enemies and I've lived to see not only the fanbase but the actual devs themselves develop a truly unique world through simple background lore and literal 2 sentence long dialogue. Devil May Cry literally lost it's soul 2 separate times and it took the entire fanbase to tardwrangle the devs back into making what ended up becoming one of the most peak action games to ever exist even to this day.In all of this, Sonic as both a franchise and it's fanbase have stagnated to a point where it's simply expected that characters are mishandled and disrespected. It took over 15 years for SoJ to get over their fear of giving Shadow the second MC role. They are still apparently frightful against making Tails or Knuckles more prominent and competent as characters because the entire IP has made so many steps backwards that the devs believe that if the IP isn't constantly sucking off it's main hero it's bad, a perception that was created and propagated by people who didn't even like the franchise to begin with.Being a Sonic fan, a true Sonic fan, today is just pure suffering.
