For example if you have 3 potentials on everyone and then rank 6 all of one unit's potentials, the game will try to force a new potential on that character over upgrades for your other units. What this ends up doing is for example you're trying to get one more potential for a support, but your main has no upgrades available, you'll end up getting almost locked/forced into picking a new potential for your main because the chances are so heavily tilted in that direction. The chances you get that last support card might as well be 0. This kind of situation feels awful because you know you need 1 more card to complete a build but even if you reroll 20x you will almost never see the card you need.

There are some small ATK and Terra damage stats on each one, but the damage increase is almost exactly 80/160/200% on the marks.
