Super Daisenryaku is the next non-RPG on my list, but it sadly has what appears to be a half-baked translation for the Turbografx-CD.
>Now just so you know, the stats for the units repeat themselves in the ISO like, hundreds of times, so you’ll probably eventually see some Japanese here and there, but I think it’s okay enough to still be considered complete. Come on, even we at the Whirlpool aren’t THAT picky. Aside from that, this is a great-looking translation, so check it out if you feel so inclined.
Seeing as how I've come across one of the Genesis' first multiplats, it feels like cheating to play the only available translation on another system. (Although, perhaps I'm thinking too hard since it apparently takes 5 minutes to beat.)

I wish there was a way(or maybe there is?) to swap button icons in game universally, in all games(including ones that don't have specific button prompts mods made for them), with any type of other button prompts you want.

Personally i don't have much issues adapting cause i used many different button schemes in my life playing games since i was a kid(started with SMS, then SNES, then N64 and PS1, PS2 and GCN, PS3, then moved to PC so XBOX laybout), but when i have some friends over or during the holiday when i usually set up some games to play all together, i have various different controllers hoocked up to my living room pc(and in the past i had others bring theirs cause i didnt have enough), and they're not all the same, i have 2 PS3 controllers, 2 XBOX ones, one SNES one, etc, and especially when we're gonna play a game no one's played yet, seeing "press X to do this" is gonna be a mess(and no, not the fun and laught mess).
>>
>>548360234
I'm surprised customizable LED/RGB face button labels aren't a thing on premium controllers now. It would be nifty, especially if you could program it to change when detecting certain executables like SNES or Playstation emulators. It would just change to whatever you need on the fly.

Back to reality: as for retro games that's not really a thing. There are tons of mods for PC games, and lots of newer PC games have Playstation/Nintendo glyphs built in. It may be wiser to stick to those for gatherings on PC. Even in that case, changing prompts is gonna be a fat fucking mess if there are multiple controller types. Very few games, even on PC, account for different glyphs per player. You should just buy more of the same kind of controller, probably Xinput/Xbox ones to be safe, and play PC games.

Does anyone know what causes the texture flickering in PSX when increasing the render res and if it can be fixed?

This is at native res. Notice that the textures on the forklift behind snake when the camera pans are relatively stable.

File: mgs_2x_ds.webm (2.52 MB, 1280x960)

Here the res is 2x, downsampled to native, and the forklift textures flicker all over the place.

It's present with all the emulators I've tried (duckstation, retroarch beetle PSX/HW, ares can't upres afaik). It's especially noticeable on wall textures in Duke Nukem Time to Kill.
PGXP can fix a lot of it but not always, and it breaks a lot of other shit usually (e.g. ground textures in Spyro).
I don't mind the PSX flickering/wobbliness, but why is increasing the render res also increasing the flickering so badly.

Isn't this basically a hodge-podge of Mupen with a little Ares merged in? What makes it superior to sharts-mupen or Ares? AFAIK it's exclusively LLE, right? So it's not like you have the fast/4K option like Mupen/P64. Is its core/timing emulation any better than Mupen or Ares? I doubt it. I'm thinking people are just getting memed because its UX is decent, but Ares has a decent UX + librashaders too. Sell me on one exclusive benefit to Gopher64. Not being rhetorical. Convince me.
>>
>>548523259
I'm not the person you replied to, but according to the Emulation Wiki;
>Gopher64 is an open-source Nintendo 64 emulator written in Rust. Although it is the successor to Simple64, Gopher64 was written from scratch. Where it made sense, portions of the code were adapted or inspired by existing elements in Simple64/Mupen64Plus and ares. Gopher64 does not use any per-game hacks or settings, and it does not use plugins.

From what I remember, simple64 was based on a pure interpreter (it bundled a lightly modified version of Mupen64Plus along with Parallel-RDP/RSP) with improvements on timings and minor stuff.

Speaking of the NES port, there's a scene in the new Stranger Things season where they show a kid playing Ghosts and Goblins on his NES, but if you examine what he's playing carefully, it's actually the arcade original. Bravo, Duffer brothers.

Unfortunately yes, but I had to use a 5x speed cheat for some areas I had to play over again. You'd think a game with an in-game map would have a clear path, but nope.

Yuji Naka programmed that and fucked up the collision detection so it's harder than it should be.

But yes, even still, it's miles better than the atrocious Ghosts n Goblins NES port, apart from a downgrade in the graphics/sound, it plays very close to the arcade original.

>>
>>548613779
To be fair, GLideN64's whole issue is that, being primarily a hardware-accelerated HLE plugin, its performance is highly dependent on your GPU and drivers. It's not at all consistent. What will work completely fine on one person's machine will be all fucked up on someone else's. This is why ParaLLEl-RDP is so much preferable - it's much more likely to give guaranteed, consistent results so long as your GPU meets the Vulkan requirements.
>>

There's no FFT remake, it's only ever gotten an enhanced rerelease (WotL) and a remaster.
The latter effectively lacks the extra content from WotL, but on top of that use poorly AI upscaled sprites and field textures and some other super shitty effects.
It's ass, I tried it 5 minutes for an Anon here months ago on Eden iirc and instadeleted it afterward.

No they don't.
The PS3 games are the original trilogy, the first 3 games which are all console exclusive to Sony to this day.
Iirc there was a statement from ND saying how they have no intention to port them because they're dated and the only way they'll ever bring them to modern platforms including PC is by remaking them or something like that.
>>
>>548614356

>>
>>548614035
GlideN64's minreqs are still lower than Plel's overall, and it's good to have as a fallback. Plel should almost always be used unless you need 4K or a hack that simply needs HLE.

Yes sometimes it can help, PGXP works for the MGS case but not always.
Here PGXP (mem + CPU) doesn't fix the issue (see the wall textures) and also the HUD elements are broken. There is a certain amount of flickering even at native res with this game, but it's way worse when increasing the res, even with PGXP.
Also PGXP fucks up other things usually.

Downsampling may increase flickering since increasing resolution by itself introduces those artifacts, but it still creates a far more attractive image in the end after the downsampling process, especially with a decent shader.
