Finished the tutorial scenario. The game is pretty fun so far.
It's a shame that this scenario locks off some of the progression, so even though I would like to continue improving this tavern there are some limits to what I can do.
Gonna move on to the next map and maybe come back to this one later. There is still some unsed space here, I'm thinking of building another staffroom to hire more people so this place can run 24/7

Denounced some witches, retrieved a lost horse, won a Farkle game, killed 5 cuman's in light armor that tried to jump me(I don't really know how I did it, just spammed stab while trying to dodge the 2 archers they had). And now I have Henry training with Barnd or Bernd or whatever the Captain's name is, to grind agility. Also gonna brew more Marigold Concotions to sell and to use for myself.
I wonder how much stats I need to finish the main quest. Probably will need plate armor or something better than a gambeson.

The finest potions this side of Prague.
There's also a perk called "witcher" which increase potion effect but makes it so all of them gets you plastered. Which ones like Marigold that sounds really useful for combat, makes it so doesn't seem like a good choice.

In general there are many perks that have drawbacks, that make me not really want to pick them up at all.

Shit, Sea of Thieves pisses me off even more because it has melee and excuses to have actual good cinematic fights, but you have no reason to have le epic pirate of the carribean fight on an enemy boat. You're instead meant to not have fun and abuse the blunderbuss and rifle to be efficient.

That's my beef with these games: you're not allowed to have fun, you have to be efficient and meta.

Couldn't find a screwdriver to break the defibrillator machine, so I had to kill Soders the old-fashioned way: I broke his heart. Literally, this time. Poor bodyguards had no idea what I was doing.
As for her, well, I raised the heat in the sauna, but she took too long, so I went to see the yoga teacher, gave 'im a krumpin', wore his clothes, turned up the temperature in the bath, and while we were alone, well... The scalpel got to work.

If you want an unlock to work on, when I did my time playing just Paris the big one I always always wished I had was the remote explosive rubber ducky. Counts as an accident kill, the enemy doesn't realise it's deadly as picks it up and moves it, you control when it goes off, it's the perfect weapon.

47 is a cloned super soldier. Ort-Meyer is the scientist who created him. You probably remember mentions of a Romanian hospital at the beginning woa? That's where his secret laboratory is.
47 killed him at the end of the first game. The first mission in Contracts is him escaping afterwards. Otherwise Contracts is pretty light on lore.

This place is coming along nicely. Even though the decorating aspect can even be a bit overwhelming at times.
Also I'm in the classic builder trap where you start building rooms not knowing what you'll need them for, so now my kitchen is too small to fit an oven, guess I'll build a bakery in another part of the building. Also left a whole area empty in anticipation of unlocking the ability to build bedrooms, but so far I can't and it looks like I'm almost at the end of this scenario

Though to be honest I much prefer learning one sub-optimal build at a time. Pretty sure finding good designs is half the fun in these games, and looking up a guide or some shit would ruin that.
For instance in my first tavern my storeroom was too far away from the kitchen, causing delays when preparing meals. This time I built a dedicated one just for cooking ingredients, speeding up the process a lot. And I'm sure I'll take some of the lessons learned here on to the next run

Hail to the Rainbow makes use of AI but the melee and gunplay are more tangibly bothersome, thankfully there isn't much combat. The atmosphere is top-notch and there's some cool set pieces, so I'll most likely finish it.

I learned not to kill all the crew previously. This was Torment IV. Makes bosses harder, indeed.
The main issue was just getting through his shields, despite being able to fire 8 shots simultaneously. The shield recharger module is a SHIT, he evaded about 2-3 projectiles per volley, and I couldn't take it (or any other system) down for any real length of time due to his crew insta-repairing it. I tried to focus on damaging the shield module itself with my shots while setting fires in other places to distract the crew (which I also thinned out a little with a pretty busted Centurion), but I wasn't able to even get through consistently enough to make a difference. I was also having to constantly micro my dudes around to kill boarder fucking shits, then micro them around the gas clouds. When he hit phase 2 he insta-gibbed my shield AND engine systems then slammed me with a volley of shots that did something like 12 damage, while also spamming gas clouds over 80% of the vessel. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I went from half health to dead in the span of about 2 seconds.

The only thing I can think to have done differently is having taken an auto-disrupter over the hull ripper earlier in the run, but I don't think it would've saved me. Maybe I could've utilized the Mutant more in repelling boarders to reduce poisoning? Getting the Death boss when playing the guy whose special is spawning gas ghouls was also a bit unlucky.

I don't know what they do nowadays, but back in 2016 when I bought the game they sold the base game for $10 or your regional equivalent, and then Sapienza etc were $5 each or you could get the pack of all of them from Sapienza to Hokkaido for $20.

If you want to really cheese the hell out of any bosses, try to get the lance reload "random" weapon after each shot, but only ever keep one of those cluster firing weapon powered and put lances in all the other spots, its beyond ludicrous the amount of damage you can dish out. Since all lance weapon start pre-loaded, you basically have like 7 attacks fired in less than a second, if you sequence it properly, and its even more broken if you get the big cluster gun that fire 14 shells at a time.

Basically, it goes like this; cluster, lance, cluster, lance, cluster, lance, cluster, where you pause after firing each cluster to replace the lance you just fired with by another lance, and since there is only cluster and the lance youre powering, the cluster gun will always be the one that get reloaded instantly. Its a bit micromanaging heavy, but worth the trouble. Also there the boon that you have lots of power to spare for others parts, since lances just take 1 power so you only need enough in the gun subsystem to power the cluster gun + 1, which is easily doable.

Like you can do something like 40 worth of potential hull damage right from battle start, if not more. Afterward the next volleys are less impressive since you have to wait for a lance to reload, but it will still wreck everything thrown your way as chance are they'll be overwhelmed by all the shit hitting them. If you want to go even beyond, there is the demonic lance which give additional damage to lances for half your crew health, so a few necromancers and healings to prevent your crew from dying off can turn anything into mush, but its risky to use with such a build for obvious reasons.

Kinda? It's not super crazy. But it is the most fun way to play hitman in my opinion. You basically get a series of missions, with 1-4 targets, as well as bonus objectives, like headshot kills, explosive kills, killing multiple people at once, that reward you with currency, which you can spend on weapons and items. If you fail a campaign you lose all your items, and if you die you lose whatever you had on you in general. So it is pretty punishing. Also no saving (but you can panic alt + F4 if you're quick on the trigger). Well, no saving in a mission.
After doing a set number of regular missions you have to kill a syndicate target, they put 6 NPCs on the map, mark them, but don't tell you which one it is, you have to identify them by tells (smoking, drinking, reading, snacking) and by description (hair color, hat y/n, earrings y/n, tattoo y/n, etc. If you alert them, they start fleeing the map.
It's honestly pretty fun and pretty challenging if you did all there is to do in regular hitman. But if you expect like, specific roguelike craziness, you might be disappointed.

Since I've been playing terraria a lot lately, I feel like sharing some obscure forbidden knowledge concerning a very specific item.
The paladin shield, it's good. it's very, very good. What it does is simple, when an ally within 50 tiles get hit, it redirects 25% of the damages directly to you as long as you're above 25% of your max health. It also adds +8 defense. That's a simple, clean tank accessory right? Well it's actually even better than what it says and it's true power lies with dual tank setups.
This is because the 25% damage redirected are done after all the defense calculation are done and then the wearer's damage are calculated a second time. Basically double dipping on defense and damage reduction. Say, a mage takes 200 damage and has 70 defense and 10% damage reduction (endurance potion). The classic mode damage calculation would be (200-70/2)*0.9=148 damage. 37 of those damage are then transferred to the tank with paladin shield so the mage takes 111 damage and the paladin shield player receives a hit for 37 damage, which also go through the calculation which would be something like 130 defense and a ton of damage reduction too (not worth putting exact numbers because the defense alone reduce the damage to 1). So basically 36 damage just disappeared out of thin air and the tank gets i-frames. (And a drain on beetle charges...)

But now let me share the forbidden knowledge, the 25% damage redirection? It doesn't apply if all players are wearing a paladin shield. Instead, 25% of the damage are just removed from existence entirely. That's right, in multiplayer, if all players are using the shield, as long as they have an ally within 50 tiles, they get a free 25% damage reduction on top of the 8 defense.
That's right, tanks just get 25% of their damage removed just for playing with other tanks. Tank synergy if you will, and conversely, they perform worse with summoners because they have no defense whatsoever.

It's PvPvE, but its almost entirely PvP with an heavy reliance on peoples willingness to RP as dinos, which kind of work but cheating furries who co-operate between species that normally predate each other make the experience horrendous. Especially because it take literal hours to raise a dino to adulthood, and the dev is a dumbass who love to nerf or break the game over dumb reasons, last time I played the dev had borked the AI spawn in rivers so the main food source for half the dinos didn't exist anymore. But at the same time it's one of the most immersive games I played, and the only others games similar to this on the market are just super arcady like Path of Titans.

Like I played about 300h of it, and I can't really recommend it in good faith due to all the issues I have with it, its that kind of game.

Yeah its good, smooth controls and it has a novel way to change the difficulty which is 3 sliders in the hub area that control respectively their health, their quantity and theblikelihood of elites. Maps are expansive enough that exploring them is fun and you're incentivized to check every nook and cranny as there are often secret chests hidden all over. Good variety of weapons, generated in a way kind of like borderland but you can use the ones you dont uses to boost & upgrade your weapon of choice by scrapping them. Lots of replayability and variety.

Not that many levels as of the last time I played, but they're fun to play. Still got a good 8h out of it before I hit the end of ea.

My advice would be to check some gameplay and see if it tickle your fancy, but I do see what you mean with how much glazing there is about it.

My recommendation is to use the "no time limit" mode at first to learn the repairs and then switch back to time limit mode. You also don't NEED to take the super hard tasks like Cockpit/FTL modules, I didn't at all until after beating the game, when I realized I never did those ones. Once you have most basic repairs down, other tips:

>floodlights are extremely powerful
>For timed mode, the "small loss flipper" is your friend; essentially this lets you ignore EXACTLY ONE issue as long as you're confident you got everything else right. This can be abused because you can choose a pretty "big" problem as long as it's just one entry, like "wrong AI mood", "broken VR realm", or "incomplete platformer level". Just don't make it something that makes the ship get towed. This basically gives you a minute or more back on each big job AND pays you for it. In some cases this is totally broken like if someone shows up with only one problem, you can just immediately check them out without fixing anything and they still have to pay you

Nah it just shit. Its too structured. You have to beat x boss to do Y thing. Y thing may not be good enough to beat z boss. Most of the buildings you either never need to make or make once then do not care about.
The boss fights aren't easy enough or abilities unlocked fast enough for build variety to be a real thing. You need to beat something like 70% of the content to even unlock anu interesting weapons.
And since everything is just a name and ball of stats with little to no dialogue, the entire vampire aspect is completely wasted. Even sucking blood boils down to finding the dudes whos blood represents the biggest stat buff, eating him then not bothering

Big and tall buildings are finicky and require janky techniques like creating pillars to rise the limit of stability (basically use the hoe to create a stalagtite, then clip stone walls on it so the game think the walls are actually at ground level, allowing you to go way higher without much loss of integrity), also I'll try to post a pic from the other side, I made this hude ass set of stair to get up there. I played it back when it released. If I recall the requirements for the true ending are just completing the architects quest, having 100% data, and refusing to hand the data over. You get more information if you have 150% data, and a bit changes in the final boss if you did the prodigal spawn's quest.
If you fought the sentient then you got the true ending.

Man I should replay it, I remember how much fun I had with my glass cannon missile artillery that fired like 60 missiles per volley, can't remember the mech model, basically it was nothing but LRM and ammo, all armor stripped to the core. My pilot had maxed tactics so I could shoot from super far away, and id use my scout to reveal them. It was fun seeing dangerous mech get a shoulder or similar get cripplied from the moment they get out of the fog of war. But it was risky since any shot at it could result in catastrophic ammo explosion. high risk high reward kinda mech.

Thanks to some delicious cheese, I was able to take out an artillery station by roping it in as 'reinforcements' for some patrolling drones, instead of slugging it out with the usual multi-capital garrison it shits out when you normally interact with it. The new Hitman is weird, because it's intended for maximum replayability. Basically, your first time on a map will always be miserable, but the more you play it, the more challenges you do, and the more items you unlock (in general) and the more bonuses you earn on the map.
For example, the Hokkaido clinic starts with you as a patient, so you literally starts with empty pockets. If you play it a few times, find secrets, you get to start as a member of the personal, which considerably accelerate your progress.

I'm forever pissed off about Yandere Simulator. Hitman cannot handle police showing up and criminal investigations, so you're not really rewarded for covering your tracks or, on the opposite, having a flamboyant pattern, but I still like the idea of a persistent world that punishes going loud by making it harder to sneak in weapons. Bonus points if going loud on the first day makes stealth during the second day actually easier as the enemy won't expect different tactics.

The tl;dr is that I want to de-randomize a few aspects of the game, you'd basically have to find the ranges those items could roll in the code and set it to always roll on the ideal end of the random distribution. One part would need a little menu that you could bring up with a keyboard shortcut in game that lets you pick which one you'd always get from a selection of a few, while it's set.

Oh btw one thing I'd like to add:
In the game currently there's a bookshelf system that stores all of your transcribed manuals you've gotten over the course of the game. The game gives you the option to favourite manuals (the little star icon turns gold when clicked) which makes the manuals easier to notice and they all appear in the favourites tab.
I don't know how possible it would be so I'm not making it a requirement or anything, but I'd personally appreciate it if you looked into the possibility of a mod that adds the ability to blacklist manuals in the same sort of way so they only show up in a blacklist tab and not when searched for or anything. Some of the game's manuals are actively negative and make your guy worse, stopping them from showing up every time you're searching for manuals that you actually want would be a godsend.
Absolutely not a requirement or anything, just would be fantastic if such a mod existed.

Been playing mystery games again.

A step above the base game, these have enjoyable puzzles and get back to various parts of the story I am more interested in compared to the base game. Absolutely recommend if you liked the first game and want a bit of closure in some regards.

A 3d mystery about a girl getting stuck in the garden next to a museum overnight and all the things relating to it. Uses a Golden Idol-style fill-in-the-blanks with information you know deduction system and unravels the mystery over a longer period of time. I'm just about done with the first section of the game and haven't even gotten enough info to solve any of the existing deduction pages I have.
Graphically, the game is pretty low-res, but I like that. My only complaint so far is that you walk and run quite slowly and if there's something you wanna go check, it's pretty tedious, cause some things aren't properly stored in your notebook.

The cost of using these tools is so fucked up, I spent more time running to the boss than killing the boss over just 10 minutes and I burned half my maxxed 800 shard stockpile, like imagine if I actually had trouble on it. 4 deaths is nothing. Anytime the tools are "ok you need to use this" items instead of "its nice to have as a flashy thing I guess" items, they're so damn expensive you can barely use them at all.

Feel like a genius after doing some meta-deduction, not sure if it was intended or skipped a few steps.

Luck in terraria appears to be extremely complicated (and it somewhat is) but its effects on drops and happenings is actually very simple to approximate.
For damage and defense, all it does is give you a chance to roll 2 dice and keep the most positive of the 2 (lowest damage taken, highest damage given). Basically giving you a chance to turn a bad roll into an average or good roll. The damage deviation in terraria is pretty high (15% up and down).
For drops and some events (golden critters for example), luck gives a chance to turn 1/X into anything between 1/(X/2) and 1/(X-1), evenly distributed. So if you have 100% luck and you try to get a 1/100 drop, luck would turn the 100 into any number between 50 and 99 (including themselves).
This can be simplified as 1.4*luck/N. So if you have a gnome, gave a plat to the shimmer god and wear your lucky horseshoe and coin and used your galaxy pearl, you would be turning the 1/400 chance to get a gold critter into a 1/330. That's a 21% increase rate. That's good. That's very, very good. On the other hand, killing a ladybug would increase the rate to 1/425 with no other luck modifier. That's bad.

But the important question is, how much does the galaxy pearl do? Well... Alone it turns the 1/400 chance into a 1/395.25 chance... Not that good but I take what I can take.

TLDR: Luck in terraria is very good. Use gnomes Sacrifice a few gold coins before a hard fight. Don't get the galaxy pearl because it's a waste of time and mentally draining. DON'T KILL LADYBUGS!

Yeah, it's a secret stat that is only mentioned in 2 places. One of the wizard random quote (which is very cryptic and you likely skip it anyway) and the luck potion.
There aren't many sources of luck. Touching a naturally spawned ladybug gives you luck, having a garden gnome near you (no icon, same distance as bast statues and campfires), luck potion, dropping coins in shimmer, lantern nights, wearing any variant of the horseshoe, wearing any variant of the lucky coin, luck potions and finally using the correct biome torches in the underground layer or below.
The only source of negative luck currently in the game is killing a ladybug.

The basic of it is that garden gnomes are the only thing worth doing because they give you 20% luck which is huge and they're relatively easy to farm (just wait a few minutes near a living tree during the day). People were really pissed when they found out about it, in part because Red made it so that using the wrong torches gave you negative luck. He later corrected that by creating the torch god (which gives you an auto biome converter for torches) and making negative torch luck only influence positive torch luck, effectively capping the negative at 0.

It influence a lot of things, items drop and gold critters spawn are the obvious ones but it also increase the spawn rate of dungeon spirit and rare mobs, coin portals from pots, your fishing power (no influence on the crates or catches themselves), damage, defense, traveling merchant number of items, etc.
Fun fact: Killing the guide gives you a bit of ladybug luck.

In a normal playthrough, not really unless you're grinding for slime staff or rod of discord. But if you're trying to get gold critters who have very specific spawn conditions, it saves hours.
In master mode, luck is very good because enemies are a lot tankier and deal a lot more damage. For example, moonlord's deathray in master mode can deal anything between 382 and 517 damage. So if you mess up, you'd be glad to have a higher chance to get a low roll.
Generally in master mode, you really want to maximize your advantages. You don't need an arena with campfires, heart lanterns, bast statues, gnomes and honey bubbles. But it sure as hell makes things easier.

Plays like parry slop even if you dodge, because if you don't dodge or parry the moment you see yellow, the enemies will just ignore the greatsword in their skull and hit you. If you do press those whenever you see yellow, you're invincible, because the timing is like over a second long and hitting the buttons during that means you're safe

Indie from a guy who said he was making his "own souls like morrowind" or something like that but it doesn't play like either. Very nice artstyle, but that's about it
Terrible quality of life because he's changed how systems like leveling work, but the game STILL directs you to the old systems, which don't work and the game does nothing to indicate this
You can level up, game doesn't say what that actually does
You can gain 'potential', game doesn't say what that does
You can kick enemies, game doesn't have any menu at all listing that action and what it scales with or why you'd want to do it (it has a sizeable cooldown but does less damage than the average m1)
You can put away your weapon to go in "traversal mode" and teleport... like 2 foot infront of you. On a cooldown. Its actually not faster than just spamming dashes with weapon out
Just tons of really quetinable design choices. I think its selling just because it looks cool
HP system is ass too. You gain it back via hitting enemies, but it takes like 8 hits or 5 heavies to regain 1 point of hp. If you parry them, that does damage, but doesn't count. If you use skills, they sometimes don't count. Doing anything but dodge M1 is punished with less hp and you have no out of battle regen at all so if you're at 1 hp your only choice is to play boring until you're not

Haven't played CDDA in years but my most played character had enough mutations the UI broke, pretty much every CBM in the game, could kill infinite zombies in melee, scared all humans on sight and could summon allied shoggoths or similar if I felt like fucking around more. I carried a rapier to curb stomp enemy shoggoths, an invis cloak for turrets and everything else posed no threat regardless.
At that point I simply ran out of things to do beyond run labs hoping to get the few neat items in those, but given I could already kill everything in melee in 3 turns max, there was no real point

Its the survivor houses/safehouses - you can find a barricaded house while traveling in PZ, it usually means there are nice goodies there including weapons, meds, food etc. That axe is from one of the mods.

I've been on a John Carpenter binge and it makes me wish more games had a similar spirit. The Drifter comes very close, despite just being a point-and-click adventure. There's the upcoming game Toxic Commando which actually has Carpenter's name on it, but it looks like a Left 4 Dead knockoff and the dialogue so far isn't remarkable at all

The idea and mechanics bahind Deadeye looks top tier, and the primitive graphics work within the premise of the game.
I really like the look and the visual design of Genokids, but the price tag is unfortunately a bit steep for an impulse buy or just to check it out.

Genokids meh. Switching chars feels pretty pointless when they all have pretty similar attack speeds and range so you can really just pick your favorite colour and spam that one. there's less functional difference than switching weapons in DMC.

DeadEye pretty bad.
Its a hacking game with a % chance to just fuck you over and alert the entire map on hacking anything you can never get rid of, like it doesn't want you to engage with the only mechanic that actually feels remotely good.
The guns feel like total shit, the melee feels even worse.
The best way to beat most maps is to either
A: Summon an ally and run past everything and hack the one thing you need to
or
B: Use broken combos that make you immortal
Which there are several of, which have been reported, but the dev completely ignores reports about, implying he isn't even trying to balance his game at all

There's no real story to it despite all the words and the art is literally ai generated

It seems there are many "classes", and all lead to "ascension" which I guess is winning the game. Like going to the Mansus or eating the Forge.
It seems to be a shitton less cryptic that CS. Which in my opinion is a plus.
Also there's auto pause, and speed up, which I wish CS had, specially at the beggining when you are grinding for money.

How is the gameplay?
I kind of bounced of the first game, despite it looking like something I'd be into because of how simple it was, at least in the beginning.
Basically just guess the specific plant the person wants and either get it right or not. I expected there to be multiple correct solutions based on the symptoms they need help with or whatever

I finished all challenges (although I cheated with those shoot x needles in this haystack ones because fuck those especially the rat one) but I'm still only 10/20 for mastery. Do I seriously need to replay this a few dozen times? Doing it silent assassin would make it faster, but I can't figure it out. I killed every target without alerting anyone, but I still don't get it. I suspect hiding bodies in the riot isn't as stealthy as the game says.

I try to wave it into the story of my character as organically as possible (Vitality from physical labor, Erudition and Glimmering from painting and doing patron contracts) But sometimes I just sit down and grind out the stats

Honestly I really like the CultSim formula as a story generating engine. My main gripe with potion games like Potion Craft, Potionomics and whatever else there is, is how limiting and railroaded they are. But having half the game happen in your imagination opens up opportunities for a lot of cool shit.
Might give it a try sometime.
If I had a million billion dollars to make the ultimate potion game, it would probably have noita wand levels of complexity for its potions though.

I guess it's cool to have one pop up every now and then so you can use it for a summoning, but having to fish for it deliberately has got to be one of the most annoying parts of the game
