Hot take: The music design after Cataclysm is terrible. As individual pieces they're fine, but the classic Elwynn Forest music, for example, is just miles better than the Cata version because I'm not hearing a chorus. Then going to Redridge is ANOTHER chorus with this triumphant sounding theme behind it. This is just entering Redridge. Barrens is okay this was possibly the only zone in my time leveling where I thought the mix of old music and new music fit. But heading to 1k Needles and Tanaris was just pain. Again they are beautiful in their out right but if you act me if I'd take the ambience of old desert theme or the new one where it's someone going "OOooooOooOOoOH OoOOoh OooOOOh AaaaaaH" I'd just choose the first one.I know Ulduar had these choirs and chants but it actually fit into the theme of what Ulduar was. Even the antechamber music was godly because it was a low hum rising into lamentation that went with the fall of a strong bastion of celestial might. Ice Crown had some and that made sense because it was the last important raid. I recall Naxx having one with Saphiron but again, it's a frost dragon with a icy theme so it works.Every zone having a soundtrack of someone chanting, singing or moaning is just annoying as fuck.
