Look, I actually read through Evan's whole excuse tour on Tumblr and it's just sad man. She admits IDW wanted shorter self contained stories but she's STILL trying to push her complicated OC drama into limited page counts. That's the problem right there.Even the fans admit this. And yeah I saw that bit about the abusive parent stuff being personal to her. Great. Write about that on your own time maybe. This is Sonic the Hedgehog.Either give Soleil their own dedicated arc or do what actually works; Sonic Tails versus the thief, Shadow and Rouge on the trail, everyone fighting over a Chaos Emerald with Eggman swooping in. Simple. Clean. CLASSIC adventure setup. Remember Hissy and the Golem from Blade of Courage? Simple side characters that worked because they didn't try to shove therapy sessions into 22 pages.>This is apparently the result of IDW experimenting with arc length, and when they try shorter arcs people complain and when they write longer arcs people get bored.No. The SOLUTION is competent writers who can actually pace a story. Self contained adventures would work FINE if the writers knew what they were doing. Ken Penders could build more character in 4 panels than Evan does in 4 issues.And don't get me started on the Year of Shadow complaint. "Oh SEGA forced Shadow in." Cry me a river. Work with what you got instead of whining about mandates. Other writers writers dealt with way worse and still produced gold. This proves that the self contained adventure format isn't gonna save IDW. The writers are just fundamentally incapable. Flynn couldn't do it. Evan can't do it. They're all dedicated to fighting the Sonic Team mindset now.

Through improved communication, which Sonic has helped Soleil kick off, Soleil’s relationship with them will improve. That said, Soleil’s parents do everything at 110%; their sudden flip will probably be just as much of a problem unless this family keeps working on how they relate to each other. Luckily Soleil has gained some confidence, and has Lunar to help, too. I’d love to tell another chapter in Soleil and Lunar’s story someday.

IDW is bad at making Sonic characters because they made the grave sin of making characters more detailed than a character who was designed in the 80s for visibility on an 8-bit system. And don't ask me about literally every character design since Adventure, those don't count.

She made a whole OC based on her own feelings about her father and shoved her into the main cast.Look it up.
