Rest you can get from borrow. Good race guy who joined, you should try to get over 1k stamina and 2 gold recoveries on your Umas(McQueen SSR from club points has a Gold recovery for long if you need an extra one). I am pretty sure all your girls got stamina checked by my Nature. You need ~1400 worth of stamina to finish the race before even counting Nature's debuffs, each gold recovery is worth around 250, make sure you have enough before aiming to cap speed.

Late surgers have the highest max speed late race but the worst(or second worst I forget) speed in the early race. Front Runners have the highest speed early race and run in a convenient position where they don't get blocked and position keep to the front of the pack, but they have the weakest speed late race. When another role gets promoted, they keep their previous role's speed modifiers but position keep like a front runner, and since they are the only front if they are promoted, they position keep to first place until the 50% mark of the race while other racers go into pace down mode if they would pass her. So basically you have the one of the strongest late game horses getting a big lead early game for free. She will probably miss pump/etc, but she is already way ahead and not limited by the front runner's low late race speed modifier.There is a fair chance I am just entirely wrong though.
