That's was fun. Black gravios is unironically fun if you have proper gear. There's always some part of him that's available to attack at all times and dancing back and forth between his legs to avoid the flames while iframing the tail swipe and hip check is enjoyable and fast paced. I think the issue is typically when you fight black gravios your gear doesn't match his threat level. It's definitely one of those fights that's more fun when you come back to it later

You'd learn from plesi to be in between his legs when he's shooting his beam or doing the tail swipe then you'd get out from between his legs for the hip check. So it's this constant going between the legs and jumping out and going back in. If you time it incorrectly you can still iframe the hip check or tail swipe if you're good enough. All of this is exactly the same for gravios and then black gravios but there's the fart cloud putting an even stricter limit on how much time you can spend between the legs. During his farts you'd attack the wings, tail, or head instead and then you go back in. Eventually you break the stomach and it's basically GG because you'll be doing tons of damage when you attack it. Obviously bombs make it faster. It's fun if you play it properly but most people just slowly hit the wings when he does his beam and don't even bring a water weapon which both will absolutely drag the fight out to be a nearly 50 minute fight

Mainline's mistakes comes primarily from the audiences they keep catering to, not their focus on ecology or lore. It is tiring to see portable fans blame that as the 'problem' when it's what defines the series, down to its original intent. Even Rampage, and very mixed reception gamemode, was made by a team of 6 rookies to the team, who proposed the idea, and Ichinose said "well give it a shot". It makes me think Tokuda is extremely strict with things, and that sucks out a lot of soul, whereas Ichinose is more free spirited and trusts his team. I think that energy from Ichinose rubbed off onto the rest of the team, and they put more of their personal embellishment on things, regardless of receiving the wrath of Tokuda or not. By definition that means he would have to break from the mainline portable symbiosis that ensured monhun was successful for years. How can portable and mainline share ideas anymore when every new mainline needs to be massively different and bigger and better and more marketable? Do you see rise maps in wilds? World maps in rise? Where are the shared characters and history? Hell they barely even share monsters anymore
