Blaze was simple, a girl character that had some lore to take seriously.At the time they only had Amy being played as a joke, being angry and too silly all the time, and Rouge being HAHA boobs and saxophone, which was also very lacking of narrative elements, Tikal was a slightly updated tutorial voiceover when she could have had more narrative focus.Meanwhile Shadow had motivations, goals, Backstory, Gerald, Maria, a rivalship with Sonic and so and so on.Blaze got a "Shadow-ish" shonen debut as a Sonic rival-clone + anime tsundere arc, isn't amazing but it is at least some lore to get attached to, compared to the fuck all the games had as character lore for everyone else, it was just as much content as we could have expected back then.
