I really don’t like Lokhir’s starting position. Southern Cathay is fine because it has rivers, but if you start conquering down those rivers you’ll get dragged into a bunch of land wars that are out of range of the black arks. There’s only like 4 ports on the eastern coast and a few scattered port settlements on the rivers, but it’s not nearly enough to make me rich. Sacking just isn’t giving me as much money as I was hoping, there’s not enough ports and now the rats declared war so I’ll be running around in the mountains far from my black arks. I’m torn between wanting to take the sea lanes towards some more ports but now I’m stuck in Cathay defending my territory.Fighting rats as delves is also a fucking nightmare because they have no encamp stance. Fighting the vampires was also a chore, being forced to take attrition just to take cities. Their damn armies were so weak that they’d just run away and they made me waste multiple turns chasing them instead of conquering. Seriously, not having encamp stance for a faction that has to fight vampires and rats is fucking awful. I have to just waltz into rat territory with absolutely no way to prevent ambushes with an army that relies on ranged units, at this rate my campaign has a very high chance of ending in a rat ambush that delves have no counter for, and that is lame because I see it coming and this faction literally has no tools to react. I was told this campaign was fun. I was told sacking would make me rich. Neither of these things are true so far. Even with 3 black arcs following me with every building I can construct that buffs sacking income, I’m still only making a couple thousand each sack. The only way I’m staying afloat is with the dictat that sells slaves for money, but these settlements are so obnoxiously spread out that I’m just barely getting enough slaves to get by. I should have just abandoned Cathay, the west has way more ports than the east

finished my long-victory with Sayl, beginning was a slog but it quickly ramps up. Also the penalties for using manipulations were basically non-existent because the armies they spawned were always easy except for the max one which could be scary if you're not prepared to go against a 20 stack of great unclean ones.
