I know at the momment this place is filled with subhuman /v/trannies who came to shitfling and just scraping the bottom of the barrel for ragebait.But let's have a serious TWfag talk about this without shitposting. This barely looks like Total War, if you showed me an image of this and told me it's DoW 4 with increased unit size/grandscale mode or whatever I'd believe you. The trailer presented cool large scale battles in a few shots, but the thing on screen seem like small skirmishes that are decided in a single part of a town map. The amount of units you control, the UI both on campaign map and in the battle screenshots seems streamlined to the max. And seeing that the game is on consoles it seems like CA is butchering the TW formula to appeal to a consolefag demographic. I get that some factions like Space Marines are basically gonna be monstorous infantry + SEMs like Ogre Kingdoms, but the 5 man squads from trailer is attrocious, even DoW1 would let you have larger squads. Sure there will probably be bigger sizes and there are mods, but if the game is balanced based on smaller scale combat and simplified battle scale, then that creates some fundamental issues with both pathfinding, dmg/ability blanace, interaction with cover/what can fit ehere, veichles etc. I'm really worried that this won't be made as a Total War game. Maybe it's a great startegy game, not saying it will be bad, but doesn't look like Total War to me. There is cool shit like the grand customization, animations & visuals and possibly voidship battles, but the concern still remains.What do you anons think is this just a case of a badly scaled alpha showcase and will be sorted in later development or is it a reveal that things fundamentally look broken from a TW prespective. I'm not trying to be negative for the sake of it but 25 years since total war Rome and this is the best they can do? That 40k demo looked so bad with it's mobile game UI and crappy presentation, female voiceover. Too much noise on the screen, king of the hill style mechanics. It looked dated and shit and more importantly NOT a Total War game.
