Yes, it's a tremendous problem that this game has no PvP gear progression. There's only two parties that gain noteworthy benefit from gear progression:
>Loot goblins stuffing themselves to the gills with extra carrying capacity and safe pockets so that they can better click on containers
>PvE arc fighters bringing upgraded weaponry like anvils/wolfpacks/hullcrackers/energy weapons to better overcome ARC armor.
Both are adopting greater risk with more expensive loadouts in pursuit of potentially greater gains. But the PvP doesn't need to take any risks. He can just roll freekits constantly if he wishes and still be a very lethal threat to damn near anyone so long as he doesn't roll the only rationally balanced grey weapon within the freekit pool (rattler). What's worse is that ostensibly the PvE players are supposed to expect collaboration vs the giant raid bosses that take thousands upon thousands of credits worth of munitions to take down. But in less than a second any random nigger with a stitcher can just blast them to kingdom come. The sick joke is that the most expensive weapons in a PvE players' kit are deliberately completely fucking useless at PvP to the point that they are worse at PvP than a WELFARE kit's scrap gun.

This shit is the most casual extraction shooter ever and by design from the devs. Everything in this game is designed to cater to both casuals and hardcores, but because embark is too afraid of alienating both sides, they try to appease both at once. They let the casuals skip out on wiping because they made it voluntary. They let the hardcores wipe but it's still voluntary. Therefore, in order to not piss off casuals, embark now has to nerf the rewards for wiping which in turns make the rewards more meaningless than they would be in other actual hardcore games. The hairpin is perfectly fucking viable at self defense against the ARC. It kills most of the indoor ones in one single shot, and the only ARC that it falters with are ones that stitcher/kettle balk at too. The only thing truly bad about the hairpin is its lack of ganking potential in PvP. That's a good thing. If you want to be serious about PvP then you should be required to put some skin in the game instead of just spamming the welfare button.

The problem with freekits isn't that you can kill them if you are even somewhat competent. The problem is that it costs the freekit nothing to try and fail a hundred times until he gets you. My duo and I like to run freekits until we take down another duo, then we take their kits and see how far we can go with them before freekitting again. Sometimes we go a few rounds getting murdered before getting someone but it does not matter because there is no cost to me to do it. It only costs YOU and when I eventually die with your gear I don't even care because I will just freekit again to steal someone else's shit and never risk my own stash value.

I do not hate the PVP in this game, it's actually really fun when it "works". But 99% of the time all PVP is just some gaylord solo (or group if you're trios) who shoots you in the back and you are at a massive disadvantage and then probably die .5 seconds later.

The more I play the more the PVP becomes a bore, a chore. It's never an "engagement" it's just some rat who puts 50 stun mines down so you are prema locked out from fighting or they sit in shadows with a maxed torrente and kill you so fast you literally can't even fight back. They have to rebalance the PVP somehow, shields are useless, chargers take too long to use, grey weapons are too useful

Be aware guys, some dude shared he managed to lag the entire server by bringing 10 stacks of light ammo and breaking them one by one and dropping it on the ground.
Apparently this was so bad the arc ai started acting funny almost flying/walking in slow motion
