Reminder that MS DOES NOT CARE about MCC1. Most importantly, it doesn't generate any revenue for them. The modern game pass ecosystem demands games that have in-game storefronts and microtransactions to keep them profitable. MCC only makes money when someone buys it, and few people are doing that now. It's an 11-year old game, and even as the population numbers rise it's pretty much only due to people that already owned it going back to it.2. Lack of Personnel to actually work on it. Pretty much nobody that actually worked on MCC is still at 343 industries. Keep jn mind the game was almost entirely developed out of studio to begin with. Halo Studios is a depleted dev team themselves that majority contracts out projects anyway. The game is also kind of a coding mess.3. MS wants a fresh start for Halo. They are content letting both it and Infinite die slowly so they can get everyone across multiple platforms on the same page when the new multiplayer game releases.

It's important to have the correct mindset about campaign v multiplayer. That being that a true Halo game is a campaign experience first and foremost.I'd be perfectly fine with the CE remake having firefight or some other PvE mode as its "multiplayer" offering for this reason.Halo CE/1 had multiplayer thrown in the game in the last few months of development for the same reason any multiplayer was in a console game at the time, it was just expected to be there. The campaign WAS the game, and the multiplayer was extra. Now, it did turn out to be really good and pretty addicting, but it's important to understand that this existed in mostly a party game atmosphere. Yes, there were comp tournaments, but they are not representative of the average Halo CE multiplayer session.Halo 2, or really rather Xbox Live, changed this, and set this unrealistic standard of Halo multiplayer being the face of the series. It was never meant to last, but it stuck, even as CoD 4 and onwards drained the popularity 3 years later.tl;drA PVE-only game is sorely needed at this point to correct this wrongdoing and artificial ballooning of Halo's multiplayer to be its core identity.

I posted about Halo 4's first outdoor encounter being well-designed before. Here's an example of how the game teaches a terrible player to think of the game as a wider space. You can see her hyper-focus on the objective marker. After this clip she dies, then treats the fight as an arena. Slowly working her way up and even falls back to take out enemies behind her, she no longer focuses on the objective marker either. Once the second objective marker pops up she doesn't focus on that and treats that as a wider fight too. This clip is the moment that teaches her all of that.
