I heard the remasters are not that great and that the saturn version is still the best one to emulate, but I don't really know if it's worth the trouble to go through all that. It's definetly one of those games where it's best to go in blind since it's all about adventuring. It's not that difficult, but for a JRPG the combat felt a bit more involved than final fantasy for example, since your positioning in battle is also important. A mix of JRPG and SRPG is the best way I can describe it. Still it doesn't hurt to have a fast forward or speed up button for combat, since turns and animations can take forever. All in all I can still recommend the game today if you are fine with the usual PS1 era jankiness.
