I legitimately think the only thing I'm worried about with Deltarune is that Spamtenna will become so massive that when the next chapters come out, 50-60% of the fanbase is going to focus entirely on that. It would be extremely frustrating to try and talk about Deltarune and then everything gets filled up with people talking about Spamtenna instead.That's just a dumb worry though. The only explanation I can think of for this is that Mike was Friend's alias and Spamton's way of explaining who the person he was talking to was without giving away too much information and breaking the NDA. That would mean Friend was actively trying to dissuade Tenna from learning about him, which...might make sense? It depends on how much Friend was allowed to do, like if he was capable of interacting with people other than Spamton at that time. Also, Dump, which plays in the room that has Friend stuck inside of a vending machine for some reason, starts playing as Tenna begins talking about Mike and Spamton. So, that's another possible connection.

Besides the unintuitiveness of having a major story beat influenced by a brief minor decision some players might not've realized was optional, I doubt the devs want to waste much time elaborating on the both specific Tenna scenarios for the rest of the game. Especially when his backstory with Spamton(and Mike) is hinted at being a huge spoilerific lore-bomb meaning he will be a recurring character.I think Ch5 will give us a brief divergent point where one or two cutscenes and some dialogue changes based on whether Tenna is with Mettaton or not. Then whatever happens in ch6+7(like maybe the Dark Worlds merging with the Light World) will result in Tenna having a fixed role for the rest of the story.

The Mettaton/Noelle art got some people riled up, so you could follow that formula and do another age gap crack ship.
