The CAUSE (mind-breaking powerful succubus pleasure) is still there, but the EFFECT (energy drain and death) is not. It's what ended up breaking up the group I used to play with years ago. While I can't help with mental illnesses, have you tried scheduling sessions a month or two in advance? Even if you only get to play once every other month, that's still better than not playing at all.
