>What the heck is this
/indie/ is the general for all indie games, such as A Hat in Time, Animal Well, Baba Is You, Balatro, Battle Brothers, Cave Story, Celeste, CrossCode, Cultist Simulator, Darkest Dungeon, Darkwood, Dead Cells, Disco Elysium, Environmental Station Alpha, FTL, Hades, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Hotline Miami, LISA, Lobotomy Corp, Loop Hero, Machinarium, Monster Train, Noita, Nuclear Throne, OFF, OneShot, Rain World, Shovel Knight, Slay the Spire, Starsector, Subnautica, Sunless Skies, The Witness, Void Stranger, etc., as well as other games that just don't fit in any other general such as Atelier, Pillars of Eternity, and Valkyria Chronicles. /jrpg/ is welcome. Idle, roguelite, shmup, 4x / RTS / city-builders, and RPGMaker games are cool too.

Mobile or consoles, Flash or Unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie and obscure games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hidden gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.

>Can I talk about games that already have a general?
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads, however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

Okay I'll be honest, the new thread captcha caught me off guard. It makes you solve 3 separate ones and each has 5 images and it took me longer than I'd like to admit to realize it's 2 pairs of similar images and one standing out

Also honorary OP image. Wanted to use this one but couldn't find where I saved it and was worried about the old thread dying on me if I searched for too long

This one time, my buddy Keith was playin some indie games, he said they was better than triple-a games but I dunno what any of that means. Anyway, turns out wanna them was some kinda virus or somethin, didn't think computers could even get sick but his did, and it made it act all funny until it suddenly exploded. Now his pc was kinda funky already and always ran really hot, so he was fryin some bacon on top, and when it exploded all the grease splashed all over him. He got third-degree burns and shrapnel coverin like, 90% of his body, doctors ain't seen nothing like it. Smelled like bacon for months too, I couldn't walk by him without gettin hungry.

>>550806348
Probably not, though I haven't learned any alchemy yet anyways.
Honestly the ambushes usually aren't completely random. There is a single guy standing on the road or a corpse or something and then they jump you. I've just been too cocky and slowed down for a corpse, because I felt secure so close to a big city and the last corpse I've stumbled on wasn't even and ambush and the last ambush I had was just one guy who was a fun fight.

This still has to be one of my favorite moments in recent games I've played. Coming out of the forest and seeing the monastery over the hill after spending most of my time in small villages.
Also encountered a knight on the way who wanted to duel me and offered to wager his armor for 250 Groschen. To bad I gambled it all away and was out of money to accept. Though he looked tough so maybe it's not that bad

Alright so I quit out of corru.observer and I thought the saves would save exactly where I was in the game and teleport me back there but it doesn't and I feel like I just missed content
>>
>>550815564
Where were you?
You always start back outside the cyst.
Eventually you'll have save points. Ive never tested if there's auto saves at that point but I believe there is before those sections, you just have to navigate back to where you were.
>>
>>550816828
It was after I went to the bottom of the sea and I was forced out I thought it would be a good point to save and come back later. Moth suggests that you should jack back in and see if you can talk to FunFriend. I saved there and closed out and when I reloaded the copper was delivered.

>>
>>550819076
Huh, really? I wonder if you can go through the whole game without getting the copper
>>
>>550819443
There's weird breaks in the flow because they released the content gradually. So I think they expect you to have to reload at some point. I can imagine the copper will just show up eventually if you don't reload and the guy will let you know.

Only the copper? Not the cattle pistol?
I think you might have missed a talk with funfriend about breaking open the container for resources which will cause Moth to order a cattle gun.
Normally there's a button at the top left to skip to the delivery. I guess the game treated it as if you pressed it.

I do like this alchemy system, but I'm burning through my ingredients failing to make an antidote for the guy that's dying in the next room and I have no clue what I'm doing wrong.
I have the timing down quite tight now. Maybe it's because I'm only level 2 and it just leaves no room for error

I ran out of ingredients (and so did the monk dude) so I had to ride to the nearest alchemist and luckily she just sold the potion I needed.
Now to make the lullaby which at least seems to have an easier recipe.
I think what's tripping me up is the error that accumulates over time. Like if you're in the middle of an animation or don't time flipping the hour glass right, you'll be off ever so slightly.
Also I'm not sure if "boiling" only counts if I can see bubbles or if it's fine as long as there is steam coming from the cauldron.
>You must have brewed enough save potions by now don't you?
Nope, I've been subsisting on autosaves for most of my playtime so far.

The system is very forgiving. For boiling you must pull the bellows until you see bubbles and wait a few seconds.

Hello. I don't post outside of my usual gen and don't really delve into too many other games. However, I do fuck with Balatro and found a broken seed and don't know where else to post it.

Seed: G5SQ1BB5 (Anaglyph Deck). Skipping first 2 binds gets you a Chicot and $25 from beating boss bind. Provides an Oops All 6s and the family, making flushes the must play. Tarot Packs include shitloads of Magicians, so econ is a breeze. I was able to get 14 jokers from stacking anaglyph tags and spending them on negatives which included smeared joker, hiker, delayed gratification, and 8 ball. Also, I was able to get a Blue Print and Brainstorm in the shop. I'm mid as hell but I feel like with the right optimizations these seed has potential

Do you know those moments where you make an assumption the heat of the moment but then never go back to question it? For some reason I assumed that "prepare recipe" when interacting with the book mean that you already put everything there in the correct amounts.
So I totally forgot that if the recipe calls for you to add "two handfuls" of something you actually need to add it to the cauldron twice.
Seems really obvious in hindsight now, especially since I've played this game before and already did some alchemy.

Video games are silly sometimes. And it hits especially hard if the game is otherwise pretty immersive.
The guy asked me to weed his garden which I did. It was three plots full of weed, I had to sit through the gathering animation several dozen times which is really annoying and disorienting after a while because of how it switches to a third person side view. But the quest failed because apparently I missed two tiny dandelions in the corner.
It was silly enough that he refused payment for that, but apparently my crime was so grave that he doesn't even want to teach me (for money) anymore

I've checked wiki out of curiosity and it said that if your herbalism is too high you might fail as soon as you pick a single non-weed plant (which I did because it grew right next to a weed) because you'll get a higher yield for it or something and that counts towards failing

Very much so. Patches today fixed the last of the campaign bugs/errors. Extra holiday bonus content as well.
Do a playthrough over the holidays to prepare for the multiplay patch early next year.

I'm just not very fond of the devs shoehorning comic relief into this game every few seconds when the game otherwise seems to be trying to be serious and grounded and was similarly advertised, it doesn't really land in the atmosphere and circumstances.

does steam take into account wishlisted stuff when recommending you games? pretty much the only downside to me pirating everything is that it's incredibly hard to find good stuff i haven't seen before since i own like 10 games on steam i actually play. i just get dogshit recs all the time

Finally finished this garbage. The anticlimactic ending deletes everything you built over the course of 5 minutes and then rolls credits for another 5. The game claims it took 24.2 hours.

There's an achievement for completing the game without cheesing the soft resource cap by selling buildings. That should tell you everything anyone needs to know.

I used to run mod heavy and (looking in my old install folder) used Miko's port of Java24 to Starsector for the massive speed boost it gave the game with many ships on screen. I see its not updated to the current build, is that sort of thing unnecessary these days?

I'm drawn to it because it has the potential to scratch a few itches.
I'm not big on procedural generation and crave survival games with handcrafted worlds, I like basebuilders that let you have NPCs in your base to make it feel less empty and the idea that you can just clear out some ruin and restore it as your base sounds really appealing to me.
But when I actually tried it, the building felt clumsy, the survival mechanics were underwhelming and I hated how the world outside your base resets after some time. Gave me this MMORPG feeling of not really being a part of the world, you know?
The only reason making me want to go back is having talked to a friend who said that I haven't even gotten to the point where the game starts properly. Which I can believe, I really didn't progress far, so I don't think it's one of those "it gets good after 100h, trust me" cop outs.

Who knows. I've recently also almost pulled the trigger on ASKA...but honestly? Maybe I'm just not into survival games anymore and I'm fruitlessly chasing something impossible

I get you. I'm a sucker for farming and cooking in survival games, and I liked how Enshrouded seemed to build on Valheim's foundation. It's just that building doesn't feel good in it, and cooking feels more like a gizmo than a real mechanism.
Kinda like that Moria game, where cooking ends up feeling more like a chore because it's so insanely restrictive.
>>
>>550907403
>If they were men in dresses and that was it no one would give a fuck
I'm assuming the vast majority of them are.
Also the discourse (at least the one I see) is rarely about how certain individuals misbehave, it's about projecting that misbehavior onto a whole section of the population and being anti-scientific in the process.

the game always starts you outside of the cyst when you load the page
whenever you finish an 'episode's main content an "advance log" button will appear in the top left, and the time skip is canonically at least one day long.
closing the page and coming back will advance for you.
the only thing you can miss is the cattle gun. otherwise everything else can be attained whenever aside from a few small conversations.
if it seems like something you found before is inaccessible, open the menu and look at the top right icon. its based on the https://gcpdot.com/.
>>
>>550908056
>It's just that building doesn't feel good in it
Exactly.
I mean I like how it's a voxel system that doesn't look like a voxel system. I'm sure they put a lot of effort into that. But everything felt kinda clumsy and at least with the materials I had available I could barely make something good looking.
Maybe that's why I liked Subnautica so much. Its base building was just slapping together a bunch of prefabs, but it made perfect sense in the setting and still looked good but also didn't me require to learn some esoteric clipping tech to make good looking bases like in so many other games.
>Kinda like that Moria game
Haven't tried that yet. It didn't looks like something I could convince my friends to play and reclaiming Moria by myself (assuming that's what the game is about) felt kinda off again.
>>
>>550908673
You can get the cattle gun as long as you remember to re-enter the cyst after you are ejected
So if you miss it, it's kinda your fault or at least time's fault.

Jesus christ, the girl in Onirism looks like she's 6 at best. I can understand getting attracted to 17-18 years old, but not literal kids.

>>550908828
What really irks me with Enshrouded is how far the building is. It's a detail, but you have to stand really far from walls to place them properly, and they don't "snap" to the cursor but to the ghost wall, so I often, very often, fucked up my roofs.
And also I think the walls lack in personality: when I learned I had to build everything around an altar, I wanted to make a Roman-looking place, but the best I could do was this generic looking-thing.
I get it's odd to speak of personality for a wall, but honestly, I can show you Conan Exiles who managed to make even the T1 walls look and feel unique.
Enshrouded felt like generic assets slapped together and it oddly made me uneasy.
