The main reason why the Blue-eyes retrain is better than the Dark Magician retrain is that it not only nukes monsters but because it can nuke monsters on Turn 0 thanks to Charmies/Magnamhut. The Dark Magician retrain doesn't do anything on Turn 0 and it's essentially another body to turn into Dragoon because the HFD effect is only relevant against stunshitter decks and even then you're still totally fucked going 2nd against set 5 pass shenanigans.
