educational cell biology game. You play as a single celled organism and micromanage the insides of the organism (organelles, protein complexes) in order to get things done. We'll make assets using the protein data bank and the final result will be a mix of mechanics we take from city builders, rts games and colony sims.
My first two attempts taught me a lot and now I'm ready to buckle down and make it for real.

It's kind of interesting, but very vague at the same time. You're starting with a theme and attempting to pigeonhole game mechanics. Not every theme can become a game. Have you tried making a GDD which explicitly lays out every gameplay mechanic and the gameplay implications behind each mechanic? IMO, there's no way it turns out to be fun. Game design is really hard. If you have a very specific game that you want to start from like this CellCraft game, that makes it 10x easier. A collab can't work if the requirements are too vague. "Copy an existing game exactly" is way easier than just some vague idea. I highly doubt that game is scientifically accurate. It most likely favors reasonable and fun gameplay over scientific accuracy.

It's missing the story/setting of being Santa having to meet a deadline by Christmas every year, which would really be the key selling point.
Maybe make it so some machines are powered by magic and magic is powered by Christmas cheer and you have less of it to draw on if you don't make enough presents, and are rewarded with more magic resource if you do well.
Have random events that change every year like a baby boom, demand for certain types of toys (that need different resources and production lines), etc.

I feel like there's an element of /agdg/ culture that shames devs into sticking to the same project way longer than they should. e.g., We say "where is you're game" and "post game" as if a developer is supposed to have just one singular game. As a whodev chronic project hopper, I don't really have "a game" to post: just a mountain of abandoned prototypes and various tech demos, and I know I'm not the only one like this. However, I feel like guys like myself are much closer to assembling a good game out of all these parts and workflows than most "one game" developer, minus maybe a few.

project hopping is great if and only if you're playtesting these prototypes with people irl or where you can see a recording of them streaming it with face cam. You need to test your ideas, and the only real way to do that is playtesting. You can't entirely trust your own taste. The only way to know if you've struck gold is if you see most playtesters have genuine interest and positive reaction towards your game, and especially if they keep bugging you afterwards about updates or wanting to play more.

You don't just spam bro...I'm one of the best players and I don't dashdance or wavedash or ledge hog I do high damage KOs like Sakurai intended.
It's in the Melee tutorial, Mario does a complex high risk meteor smash while every Mario player just spams back A.
All air moves in Melee are overused. I use my B moves in the air because it sets up a cool looking combo with different techniques. I don't run and hide and "punish" or tech chase spamming the same move, it's extremely ugly and unaesthetic gameplay that can be overcome with mere reaction times. If you're gonna spam you're predictable. Niggas just try to spam so fast you literally can't even react in time, they aren't aiming or trying to outwit their opponent with clever, unpredictable movement because they rely on spam to win, not skill.
Thought about doing tournaments and winning with my proper method of fighting cause I own on slippi, but I think I'd rather just make a better game. I'm tired of being the sole owner of this philosophy in my country. I don't have time to play against based Japanese appreciator's of Sakurai's work.

Realistic or le hecking reddit good graphics are not more artistic per se. In some senses you can attribute the realism from oil paintings into skil but from a true artists perspective beauty is in the eye of the beholder, creativity and imagination matter more than copying something well.

I built my models in roblox using their block, wedge and cylinder primitives but I want to swap to Unity, is it best to convert each gun into a single mesh or could these primitives maybe become unity primitives? Right now when I convert them to Unity it creates a unique mesh for every former roblox primitive and I was hoping for something more performant considering I have almost 100 weapons. I'm a noob in everything but roblox so I appreciate any help.
