>>550909471>>550909768What's the game?>>550909835It's a good thing I have 20 years of experience programming.
Have anyone ever made a procedural VN, where it uses a fixed random seed, but you can select like 5-6 anime girls from a list of 256 anime girls, and then the game just calculates their behaviour and output a VN oneshot?
>>550909248I believe in Eric supremacy
>>550909943>What's the game?educational cell biology game. You play as a single celled organism and micromanage the insides of the organism (organelles, protein complexes) in order to get things done. We'll make assets using the protein data bank and the final result will be a mix of mechanics we take from city builders, rts games and colony sims.My first two attempts taught me a lot and now I'm ready to buckle down and make it for real.

it can't be that hard to find a latina gf in spicland

imagine cris gets a big booty sexy latina gf with big fat tits on a slim frame that mogs most anons gfs, marries her, and has a dozen kids, and then he trains them all on gamedev for a decade. can they make a kof clone as a 13 man team? could cris finally prove aggy daggy wrong and just like make successful game?
>>550910595>>550911635okay last screenshot of the Unreal engine project. I'm looking for people who are open to trying again maybe working together. We would make the world a better place and get to talk about biology, chemistry, physics, cool stuff like genetics and it would be really cool. I can code, do art, and I can teach you how to use Visual Molecular Dynamics 2.0, Molstar viewer, Pymol or even Blender's Molecular Nodes.
>>550910595>>550911234It's kind of interesting, but very vague at the same time. You're starting with a theme and attempting to pigeonhole game mechanics. Not every theme can become a game. Have you tried making a GDD which explicitly lays out every gameplay mechanic and the gameplay implications behind each mechanic? IMO, there's no way it turns out to be fun. As a game, it's unintuitive and overly complicated.>city builders, rts games and colony simsEach of those genres have very specific gameplay structures that make them work. Mixing and matching mechanics doesn't automatically produce a reasonable game. Have you considered turning this into a incremental? That could be more reasonable.

That could be more reasonable.Ugh. You're the only thing worse than an idea guy.
>>550912678According to these records Cris is second in line to the throne of Spain...hey Cris buddy, would you mind lending me $100k at 0.01% annual interest so I can dev my game? Did I ever tell you how handsome you are? Oh yeah my game is a Castlevania clone with pixel-gold tier art, do you want to see before investing in it?
>>550912934Same but change it to jobby for me. I've made negative money despite how long I've been at it.
it works but programming in GDscript makes me feel like a chubby little baby in a high chair with a binkie and a sippy cup
>>550913087Game design is really hard. If you have a very specific game that you want to start from like this CellCraft game, that makes it 10x easier. A collab can't work if the requirements are too vague. "Copy an existing game exactly" is way easier than just some vague idea. I highly doubt that game is scientifically accurate. It most likely favors reasonable and fun gameplay over scientific accuracy.

>>550914523The white character model appears to be stuck, potentially because the navigable area (navmesh) has not been generated correctly or is blocked by an obstacle. Here are some suggestions to troubleshoot and potentially fix this kind of problem:Visualize the Navmesh. Most game engines allow you to display the navigation mesh (often a green overlay) using a debug view. This will show the actual areas where the AI agent is allowed to walk. Check Obstacles. Ensure that walls and other non-walkable objects are correctly marked as solids or obstacles, and that the pathfinding agent is set to avoid them.

Why are there no games where you play as Santa? Like Factorio meets Santa? That would be fun. Build the shop, then deliver all the presents once a year.

>>550920694ntathis is just a cutesy automation game. It's missing the story/setting of being Santa having to meet a deadline by Christmas every year, which would really be the key selling point.Maybe make it so some machines are powered by magic and magic is powered by Christmas cheer and you have less of it to draw on if you don't make enough presents, and are rewarded with more magic resource if you do well.Have random events that change every year like a baby boom, demand for certain types of toys (that need different resources and production lines), etc.

i will never be a game dev soley because i cannot model, and it sucks because i really want to make a game but im a programmer; not an artist>b-but!!! muh free assets!!free assets do not look like what i want them to look like
I feel like there's an element of /agdg/ culture that shames devs into sticking to the same project way longer than they should. e.g., We say "where is you're game" and "post game" as if a developer is supposed to have just one singular game. As a whodev chronic project hopper, I don't really have "a game" to post: just a mountain of abandoned prototypes and various tech demos, and I know I'm not the only one like this. However, I feel like guys like myself are much closer to assembling a good game out of all these parts and workflows than most "one game" developer, minus maybe a few.
>>550922790>free assetswhat is stopping you from hiring an artist?

People keep saying >Art is the hardest part of game devbut most of the indie games on steam's new and trending use very little original art. I think artists just purposelessly gimp themselves and expect others to do the same. Its like when people say Elden Ring is this super hardcore game but say you didn't beat the game if you use certain mechanics. Well is it -really- that hard or are you just doing a challenge run where you don't use all the tools available to you?

You need to test your ideas, and the only real way to do that is playtesting. You can't entirely trust your own taste. The only way to know if you've struck gold is if you see most playtesters have genuine interest and positive reaction towards your game, and especially if they keep bugging you afterwards about updates or wanting to play more. Most anons here have a forever project they continue to be attached to and put all their efforts towards despite it getting poor reception. >>550926745I just ask chatGPT because everyone ruined Melee. You don't just spam bro...I'm one of the best players and I don't dashdance or wavedash or ledge hog I do high damage KOs like Sakurai intended. It's in the Melee tutorial, Mario does a complex high risk meteor smash while every Mario player just spams back A. All air moves in Melee are overused. I use my B moves in the air because it sets up a cool looking combo with different techniques. I don't run and hide and "punish" or tech chase spamming the same move, it's extremely ugly and unaesthetic gameplay that can be overcome with mere reaction times. If you're gonna spam you're predictable. Niggas just try to spam so fast you literally can't even react in time, they aren't aiming or trying to outwit their opponent with clever, unpredictable movement because they rely on spam to win, not skill. Thought about doing tournaments and winning with my proper method of fighting cause I own on slippi, but I think I'd rather just make a better game. I'm tired of being the sole owner of this philosophy in my country. I don't have time to play against based Japanese appreciator's of Sakurai's work. I'm just going to have to force the world around me to change using the power of intelligence, not people.

I built my models in roblox using their block, wedge and cylinder primitives but I want to swap to Unity, is it best to convert each gun into a single mesh or could these primitives maybe become unity primitives?
