Played a couple of hours of jive this weekend to see if it sucked as much as people say it did and man, it actually feels more like what I wanted out of a sf game, especially coming from snk titles. Getting into the franchise from 6 left me with a very bad taste for it. I can consistently hit 1900 MR with my mains and I don't regret buying the game on release but I never feel much improvement on anything these days. It's just random guessing and that's it. Playing against pros or 1700 goblins doesn't feel that different when the pressure is so easy to do and keep up. I've been close to legend and then back to 1750 in the same day. It's tough. Really wish I was around the community back when V was at its peak.

SF6 has made my friends feel themselves so hard they'll ask me to play some other game like third strike or something and then after a round or two they realize just where they are compared to me. They can't even bring my life down to half and they don't have any super meter to use nor can they confirm into it anyways so it constantly gets wasted on their wakeup. This drought has got people trying to return to other games but SF6 as atrophied what little skill they had in the first place. unless you're 2k+ mr at the very least, i think its impossible to be an actual 23er and go back to jive. none of what you "learn" about how to play the game in sf6 up to ultimate grand master and even well into it doesn't translate at all to actual skills or game knowledge, and definitely nothing that translates to sfv. you can play like a mashing ape in jive to an extent at lower ranks but even then, theres nothing quite like what you are doing in sf6. theres so much less looping offense and getting your fraud shit started is harder and theres so much more nuance to it all

Point is where 99% of the playerbase was at, MK9 was a aggressive and a very movement heavy experience, zoning paradise was the injustice series. Sidenote but an interesting tidbit is back in MK9 DLC chars required that your opponent downloaded a compatibility patch which was optional so many players never even had to fight the other top zoners of the game kenshi & freddy lol.
