You have to use shop unlocks only and ignore all event characters if you want a "proper" balancing. The characters that you get on shop are all on release date order so you're basically getting them in the same rate as the game scales up. Duo hitbox wouldn't make sense in a traditional game. For Bass to be playable they need to build the entire level design with his lack of slide in mind but I hope it happens. Proto Man should have a Shotgun-style buster. It solves the issues of giving Proto Man a distinct style, making him the close-ranged Zero character and making him the risk-reward character they've always wanted him to be. Plus, it ties with the way he plays in Powered Up.

I liked Protomen Act 3 but I don't like how Light spends so much time talking about Emily and almost none (only one line) about either of his sons. Protoman doesn't get so much as an homage or callback, and his death was the climax of the act that takes place before this chronologically! What the hell? I also obviously care more about Megaman and Protoman than Emily but that's not just because I like Megaman. Even within just the internal context of the Protomen acts, Megaman and Protoman are real characters while Emily is a non character who dies 5 seconds into Act 2. I think the only reason this is the case is because they didn't want to explicitly name Megaman characters in the lyrics
