Online chess is completely pointless now. Just played two cheats back to back, out of three games I had time for. The first has an active bullet rating of 900, has won 14 out of his last 15 games with his only loss being 75 moves and on time, and begins every single game getting blown out before winning anyway. Both sadly on chess.com. They haven't been responding to reports ever since they reduced staff and installed that completely nonfunctional "AI chat bot" instead of human support. This is why people just play lichess anon. Not because there won't be cheats there, because hilariously there are still just as many, but at least it isn't rated. But really it's just over. Your best bet is just downloading Komodo and playing against it on its Human setting, and otherwise playing OTB.

I don’t even really register blunders consciously anymore, but my pattern recognition is such that I’ll often sidestep landmines without even realizing it until post-game analysis. In analysis I’ll be like “oh wait couldn’t I have played such and such?” and then turn on the engine and see it very obviously blunders a piece. I’m so out of it and rusty that I didn’t “see” it, but I’m at a level now where I still instinctively avoid it and my somnambulant baseline is on par with my opponent’s active calculation. They don’t know that if I ever chose to lock in it wouldn’t even be competitive.
