Katawa Shoujo was recommended to me by someone living in my dorm (he also said I would probably like anime in general and he was right.) This helped me interact with others, but after a while the mask would slip and it would inevitably scare whatever girl I was with away (male friends usually don't care). On another note, I replayed KS more recently, and I think I've grown to like Shizune more than my original katawa Hanako. I finally started Lilly’s route last night and stopped at the start of act 2. I’m definitely the most intrigued that I have been in any route. I liked Akira in the other two routes you interact with her, so I’m a bit scared that something about/related to her seems to be discomforting to Lilly. I do have to say that the cutscene that bridges Act I & II where she touches Hisao’s face is one of the most heartwarming things I’ve seen in the game so far, I’d put it up there with Hanako smiling and Shizune using her voice. I can’t wait to come home and keep playing.

happy anniversary.a few days ago I was cleaning and found the postcard and pins I got from artbook kickstarter 4LS did in 2012. I gave the shizune pin to a friend from here some time back. Made it to Lilly Act 2, I’ve loved everything so far. Her route is the first one where it really feels like there’s actually something wrong with Hisao. Sure, you can overdo it running with Emi and his heart acts up for 2 seconds trying to win a second stuffed cat for Misha, but the whole “I can feel it coming for me -DEATH!!!” English test fakeout, only to hit you with the real deal 2 minutes later after you spend just long enough talking with everyone to forget about it is good writing. I spent a second wondering if I made a wrong choice and got Kenji’d again.While I’m sure she wouldn’t appreciate the comparison, Lilly’s route reminds me a lot of Shizune’s, in that you go in only seeing of side of them and then get to experience them in their entirely. Shizune wasn’t as bitchy as I thought she would be, and I was not expecting Lilly to be as playful and emotional as she is. (Not sure of a better way to phrase it) I’m also really glad that Hanako’s life improves even when she’s not the main focus.>>552723129>>552724934I wish I was as well. Well, I thought I would wait until I had completely finished the game before making any definitive statements about who my favorite is, but that is no longer the case.Lilly is best girl.I don’t like the others any less, if anything I like Hanako even more after playing Lilly’s route but the wheat field scene made Lilly my favorite and made me start crying. I didn’t know what to expect, but it wasn’t her to start worrying about losing Hisao. Something about her reaching out blindly looking for him just hit me straight in the feels. Even her H scenes were surprisingly romantic. And while this obviously isn’t exclusive to Lilly, the music elevates everything, they did a really good job on it. I’m almost tempted to stop playing right here and just bask in how nice things are. I won’t, of course, but I’ll be damned if I can remember the last time a story has made me smile this much.
A close family friend who is much older just had a leg removed due to mismanaged diabetes. They may lose the other as well, we don't know yet. This scares the daylights out of me, because I'm on the road to type2 and I will likely procrastinate on my own health until it's too late. I know disabilities aren't the end of the world because I've played this game, but I'm at a loss on how I or anyone can just sit back and let it happen. This should scare me into motivation, but I don't believe it will. I'm not looking for advice, just sort of screaming into the void.
