Playing SNES on my Wii for CRT output, but it turns out the wiichuck isn't great for controlling SNES games. I'm a wire purist so I need a cheap controller with a USB or Gamecube connector and enough buttons to properly play SNES games.

Turning on a PS2 with FreeMcBoot takes 1 second. Some also don't want to tweak a setting every time they want to play a new game. For example, God Hand, you need to tweak that shit to make it look nice. Playing it on a genuine PS2 is as easy as booting up the PS2 and selecting the game.
And anyone who's been emulating stuff has pretty much played all the games they want to play. They either stop or want to play games that's not supported which makes them turn to homebrewing.
For example, Uncharted for the PSVita. Can't emulate that since it still crashes and I doubt they'll ever make it work. So they just spend money on a PSVita.

For me, I personally hate having to grab the latest firmware and keys for the Switch every time there's an update. I hate having to tweak settings, find mods and all that shit. I just want to play. So I got a Switch. Only for games that I really, really really like that I would look into emulating it if it has mods to make it look and run smoothly. But if I just want to play Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits and don't want to deal with the glitches or bugs then I'm just going to play on my hacked Switch.

I have, it's less of an issue on most of them but I was playing Ace Combat 4 which seemed especially afflicted with it. Right now I'm playing GITS Stand Alone Complex, where it seems to only happen when you receive calls in the game. I didn't notice issues like this before. Honestly, I stopped using Myrient because they don't do any QC on the uploads. Half of the PS3 games I downloaded are corrupted. Even downloaded them 3 times to check if I just got a bad download. Then I downloaded the ones in IA and it worked flawlessly. Checked the hash for both and they don't match. Also there's a handful of games and DLCs that doesn't have anything on it except the .rap file.

I don't know what happened. It used to be good, now it's just shit.

I need some help from you fine folks. I recently downloaded some games to emulate on my phone and some of them did not work. I quickly realized that I had two different sizes for the same game in CHD format. So certain files work just fine but others are not recognized by nethersx2, however both files unzip to the same file since I verified the hash for both.

So what the hell is this? There is more than one way to compress to CHD? And Nethersx2 only works with one of these? How can I tell which is which?

What would be the best N64 core for it? I don't see myself using it that much compared to emulating on PC but I want to configure it properly while it's novel. The two cores pre-installed are ParaLLEI and Mupen64Plus-next; the former has critical visual errors on this device, and the latter seems accurate but can't run at full speed.

They're usually a lot higher resolution and don't use composite so you lose a lot of the blending that would have on a crt tv and generally have a different look to their image.

Pretty based for vertical shmups when put it on its side and run it in 240p/120hz. Otherwise they're kinda meh. They look just as sterile as any modern display at >640x480 and have pretty lousy brightness. 15khz CRT TVs have all the "soulful" artifacts you want and are a lot more vivid, but of course they are super limited in what resolutions and refresh rates they'll take, topping out at 480i, and PAL/NTSC hate each other.

Do miniled monitors provide any benefit for CRT shaders? In theory it seems like they'd improve the effect, but I've never actually seen one running one. They also seem like they might be cool for those rolling scanline shaders that are supposed to increase motion clarity?

I'm sure OLED would be better all around but they're still too pricey and I feel like old games have too many static screen elements which would aggravate burn-in issues.
