>Creaking is a joke mob>Resin does nothingWhat was the purpose of the pale garden and why didn't they finish it?
holy shit chiselled tuff looks so cool
>>551362657Could have been one of the comfiest biomes but they made it super tiny so it's too small to build in properly
>>551362630I don't know what that is
>>551362657>Woooaahhh watch out for this super creepy scary mob>does less damage than a zombie>you're supposed to punch it thousands of times while it stands there staring at youi can't even begin to try to see the vision>>551363069I mean it's not like it's a biome-specific filter, right? You can just grow more pale trees/moss and spread it yourself
>>551362657at the very least resin should have a glowing effect to make it look magic and spooky, the creaking is dragged down and made even lamer by the fact that it's so connected to resin, which just ends up being bright orange clown bricks.
>>551363442>I mean it's not like it's a biome-specific filter, right?Sky, water, fog colours etc. are. Plus the property of no regular mob spawns. You could recreate it elsewhere, but you'd only get the full atmosphere in the biome itself.
pale oaks and pale moss with the basalt delta fog...
Fun fact, music also fades out and stops playing entirely in a pale garden.
>>551364039We need more animated blocks like Prismarine. You ever worked with Crimson Stems? They look like pulsing veins, it's absolutely vile (read: awesome)
>>551363398Its a Tony Hawks Pro Skater thing
Thoughts on superflat?
>>551362657It's just cool I guess. You can you use the creaking for stuff, and if multiple gang up on you, it can be hard. Imagine if you came across it before endgame with no knowledge of it.>>551364197It doesn't disable regular mob spawns. You also get fog with vibrant visuals.
after spawning into a pale garden seed I now unironically see the visionBut no player will see the vision because of how overbalanced and rare they are. Creakings ARE dangerous... when you have no armor, and when the biome is big enough for there to be multiple at once. The marketing is very weird for "the creaking", making it seem like a boss on par with the warden, but their real strength is when they swarm you from multiple directions, running at you when your attention is being held by other mobs. You're running through this super dark forest where everything looks the same, the unassuming flowers open up and look identical to creaking eyes, you run and fall into a cave and are left on one heart and the creakings leave you alone and you have respite until the morning, but you're running low on food from all the running...then you get instakilled by a skeleton and all the tension is goneit's unironically so fucking kino, I jumped at the sound of an enderman teleporting. When you're actually trying to be immersed and not trying to be a cool funnyman for your youtube audience the creakings sounds are creepy as fuck, even when you hit it, assuming you even have time to.But again, due to their implementation, NOBODY will experience this gameplay. They're super rare spawns deep in a biome that people only go into for endgame items from mansions, so the only experience anybody is going to have with a pale garden is walking in, waiting for night, instakilling every mob with their diamond sword, and looking for the one creaking that will spawn in because of the tiny biome, stare at it, let it do ZERO damage to them through their armor, and go "wow, this is dumb"I genuinely cannot express how much missed potential this biome has and I literally just played in it for like 12 minutes.
>>551377101and while i'm rantposting, IMO skeletons should be the only non-creaking mob that spawns in them, (at a reduced rate) because they're grey, way less goofy than zombies or creepers, and also force you to look at them in a slightly different way from the creaking in that you have to block their arrows.Spiders would be fine too I guess. But if they really wanted to act like the biggest video game in the world they could make pale spiders with orange eyes.
>>551377101This is also on top of the concept just not working in minecraft period because the only way I could have this experience is because of my no-house autism, where even if somebody did spawn in a pale garden on hardcore, they STILL wouldn't have this kind of fun unless they sought it out specifically, (which ruins it because "voluntary horror" is stupid), because the obvious first thing you do in minecraft is to build a house before the first night and just sit there until you feel powerful enough to actually go out and fight mobs, effectively completely ignoring the creaking altogether. And THEN, it's ruined even further by the fact that you can and should always just turn the game into peaceful mode by carrying a bed on you at all times and just sleeping before any mobs spawn. And THEN it's ruined **EVEN FURTHER** by the fact that if you DON'T ignore the entire mechanic and sleep every night, there's PHANTOMS to come in and not only destroy the atmosphere by being way too strong for how weak you would be in this hypothetical, but even FURTHER encourage you to just sit inside at night.
>>551378583You don't need to skip the night to get rid of phantoms, you just need to lay in bed.
>>551378583The issue is that it's biome specific and there is absolutely no reason to go to that biome other than to see the new shit when it came out in a snapshot or if you want the blocks, and you'll probably stay just long enough to get saplings and then leave. Endermen are the opposite where they singlehandedly add so much character to the game without this issue. Unique way you have to approach them, great sounds and animations. They just refuse to add any more overworld monsters like that without doing something like biome specificity so that people HAVE to engage voluntarily, otherwise niggers will whine that it's not like "old minecraft." Those people will whine regardless of what is added so they just need to toughen up and add cool shit and difficult mobs and random events too. Imagine if the creaking was a weather event like thunderstorms that adds a gray pall to everything everywhere and spawns the creaking.
I almost forgot to decorate the Christmas tree this year.
>>551380402You know some people like to explore the world and see what's out there? That's one of the main selling points of the game.
>>551380402That sounds unbelievably annoying holy shit>>551382117Very comfy
>>551380402Weeping angel mechanics would just be horrifically annoying if the creaking was a regular mob, it needs to be the feature of its own biome to have the right effect. The eye blossoms opening at night and watching you is SO spooky when you're not running around in netherite.
Anon... oh my god.... I can't believe this. Thank youuu. Thank you sooo so much for this thread. That is incredibly, incredibly generous of you, and I just can't even words right now. I don't know what to saySNOWWWY WITH THE 3 BITTIES
>Notch: Hm Jeb what if we added zombies to attack the player at night, and an EXPLODING enemy!>Jeb: That sounds unbelievably annoying holy shitAnd then minecraft made zero money and was deleted from the internet. DARE to imagine my friends.
I'm a better game designer than Jeb thoughever
Enderman gimmick of picking up and moving blocks around was underutilized. There should be other mobs that go out of their way to dynamically rearrange their nest/habitat. Like a flock of goblins that act like copper golems except they rearrange blocks into patterns for their goblin holes.
>>551382972The creeper is unironically genius. It's remarkable how well it behaves and it was critical to Minecrafts success early on. Most of modern development feels bad but then they add something good like 25% of the time and it all works out. The spear is cool (they only added it because of the movie) but i'll take what i can get
The problem is that Minecraft has infinite potential so Mojang would inevitably fail to deliver what they could have even if they put in effort.
Let a million Minecrafts bloom
I used to try to hide my mining and preserve the natural cave generation to the point of replacing mined ore veins with smelted stone, but i've gone the opposite way lately and like turning any stray holes into large, intentional looking geometric paths and trying to make my mines look like mc escher stairs.
two more issues with the pale garden, you're never trapped by it, you can always just leave. It breaks the spooky experience to reach the edge and find the bright green happy forest and just be like "oh, aww" and turn around back into the place you're supposed to be scared ofAdditionally, for whatever reason, in seemingly any garden of significant size, there WILL be a lava pool or source somewhere, and it WILL create a massive, unstoppable forest fire that will burn down the entire thing if you don't stop it or fuck with cheat settings. You go from fearing the forest to frantically trying to save it as you pathetically try to put down a fire that's in 4 trees at once.
I need some advice on what I should do with a build.I made this wizard tower around two years ago, then went on with other games around the time that I finished the exterior.Lore wise, it's meant to be a huge research center for a Wizard and his apprentices. But also a home base for me to live in.What I really need is some ideas for what I should actually put at each point. As you can see, it's a bit ridiculous in terms of scale, going all the way from the ground up to build height.I had some extra plans to develop a sort of city with floating rings and turrets surrounding the tower at different levels, with villager houses, stained glass structures meant to represent swirling magical energy. I'll want to add some outcropping turrets around the middle shaft to both add some texture, and more working space (like I need more of that at this point). As for the ground, I was probably going to create a large circular wall around the base, secured with redstone contraptions, and likely inhabited by more villager houses just to give some life to the place..This one's a shot I took while gliding by.
>>551393861This is the view from the top.I put a beacon in the middle running throughout all floors. It seems an obvious choice.Maybe if I'm feeling ambitious, I might expand it into a five beacon setup to have almost all effects.I'd probably leave out jump boost because I just think it's annoying.
>>551393986Here's what it looks like from the bottom right before going in.I've got it on quake pro, like I always do.
>>551394114And finally, here's some measurement schematics I roughly penned up to show what I'm working with.I know my handwriting is bad. I'm 26; there is no excuse.the lines surrounding the Big Bowl is sloped upwards. just in-case that didn't come across.
Christmas bump
>>551393861Some magical energy or floating crystals and that might help emphasise the wizard part, as it is it just looks lile a massive tower so it'd be cool to convey the wizard bit better I think
I still don't fucking understand who decided to make creepers a one hit kill in full iron armour
>>551360847Mojang's never fixing the Christmas chest skins, are they? It's low priority the rest of the year, and they don't work around Christmas. It seems so obvious to me that wooden chests should be red, copper chests green, and ender chests purple
>>551393861Break it at a few points, with little bits of wall floating in the air, as if it's still held together by magic. And add lighting so it's actually visible
>>551415739>imb4 they "fix" it by removing it so minecraft becomes inclusive for other cultures
The vision[tm] is coming together

Why are people so autistic about "renewable" materials when there isn't enough time in a human lifetime to actually exhaust a minecraft world of any of its resources?
>>551423615So right after the blue netherbricks are added? Got it, I'll adjust my expectations accordingly
>>551423941Building farms is fun
>>551423941I started playing on the ps3 edition; where technically the same is true, but to a much lesser extent. Plus, there is the problem of distance traveled to acquire said resources. Clay, for example, is a real fucking bitch since atp I have to travel considerable distances for it.
>>551423941Time constraints, it's easier to farm renewable materials than it is to collect them manually. For example by count I've crafted 1087 hoppers in my current world, that's over 5k iron just for hoppers. Imagine the time it would take to mine all of that compared to being able to make it a renewable and steady source trickling in as I do other things around my base
>>551423941For me personally, I’m autistic about destroying the natural landscape
>>551423941It takes progressively more time to travel out to those locations, though for a SSP it's probably not an issue. Though, traveling out further and further puts updated content out further and further as chunks get generated.I make weekly back-ups of my world, and the more the file size bloats for unnecessary things, the less convenient it is to make back-ups.
I only use charcoal from burned logs and hoard all the real coal in blocks
>>551426056based video game autist
>>551426056I switched from lava buckets back to charcoal. One stack is fuel for more items, it's easier to prepare it in bulk, and I already just have too much spruce from my taiga start, so I might as well burn through those resources. And charcoal can still be used for certain crafts, unlike lava buckets.
Speaking of charcoal, what the FUCK were they thinking with the campfireif its supposed to be for low tech camping and roughing it, why do you need to have already burned something in a furnace, a thing that already cooks food?? it's like its intentionally designed to be an item for civvies to larp going camping
>>551426592>campfirePurely decorative block; as is literally every single block added since Microsoft bought Mojang.
>>551426708Erm, it has a function, it means I have to listen to crackling fire whenever I go near my bees
Just think, adding hopper interaction to campfires would instantly transform them from a total bloat waste of time to gamebreaking.

Is there a reliable way to prevent snow layers but keep the visual effect of falling snow? Glass blocks at build height prevent the layers but also stop showing snow fall, panes don't stop snow layers from forming, string doesn't either and I don't want to layer me entire base with it. There's lighting up my base a lot but I don't want to do that either, I like having low light levels just enough to stop mobs from spawning
>>551426056I wish there was a charcoal block. It would look great in fireplaces, where coal can be a bit too dark. With a wither skeleton farm, I have endless coal
>>551427398I don't know how Bedrock works, but in Java you only get treasure items in a big-enough pond>In Java Edition, to catch items in the treasure category, the bobber must be in open water, defined as the 5×4×5 vicinity around the bobber resting on the water surface (2 blocks away horizontally, 2 blocks above the water surface, and 2 blocks deep).
>>551429685I'm not good enough at messing with AIs, I guess. It just started looping after this
>>551455196I mean, snow can only form on full blocks, so there's a lot of options to stop it from piling up. But you probably don't want to cover the entire ground with slabs, flowers, string, or what have you. There's no quick and easy way to do it, I'm afraid. Lighting is probably the easiest, but you'd need a light level of 10 for every block with sky access

Do any of you play on large biome worlds, if so how annoying are they? I want specific large biomes to build in but I'm concerned at how far I'd need to travel for other specifics like if I build in a cold region but need sand, terracotta or jungle logs having to travel 20k+ blocks away
large biomes pale garden...
I do not care for villagers or greyskins and wish less of the game revolved around them
>>551471726and yet you still trade with them and contribute to their economy. Curious!
pillagers being as visually rich and well-off as they are compared to villagers really makes no sense when you think about it
>>551465605I do. Doesn't feel too annoying to me, sometimes you have to travel 5k-10k for some specific things but it doesn't take that long to travel to them imo unless you hate exploring. I enjoy exploring but if you don't then you would probably hate it. Having a large view distance makes it less annoying to travel for stuff too. Once you have already explored and know where everything is, the traveling isn't annoying at all unless you are very impatient
>>551465605You have to spawn in a biome you like, because you're going to see a lot of it. If you want more realism and hate seeing a big mishmash of biomes with a jungle on the horizon of every savannah then it's for you, but for whatever reason people seem to actively want to live in a place that makes no visual sense for the sake of being able to gather a lot of different wood types quickly.
>>551471726I wish there was more depth to them and more stuff to do with them. There's nothing forcing you to engage with them at all. Villagers offer an alternative means to acquire things, you can get everything they can give without them.

>>551406270>>551415938Definitely a good idea. It would easily help break up the design a bit so there's not just 220 meters of just straight tower with nothing going on.It would also help me have to design less actual rooms inside it.Any ideas on what to put inside any part of this? There are the staples of Libraries that seem impossibly big. Maybe even forming a maze. Potion rooms and Redstone areas holding a bunch of in-progress experiments and prototypes. Of course we've got to have the Menagerie where I showcase tons of mobs, some even being very dangerous.I think my biggest issue is finding a decent place to keep all of the survival essentials like a storage room, maybe even a "magical" auto-sorter. Bedroom, furnace room, Nether entrance. It's just in such a massive scale that I don't even know where to begin. I intend to make this place my home complete with everything I need, so I don't want to just return to a tiny shack just outside to sleep through the night or access my ender chest.

>>551544901Turns out it wasn't just beaches:>The player now only spawns on sand blocks. As a result, the player will often spawn in beaches, but spawning on deserts is also a possibility.https://minecraft.wiki/w/World_spawn#Java_Edition
So why does iron not rust?

>new drop less than two weeks away>latest snapshot introduced data driven villager tradesBetter get those librarian trades while you’re still ahead, because they’re almost certainly gonna implement the trading rebalance. Don’t like it? Use a data pack

>>551553363water is going the wrong way. You want it coming from the back and put trap doors on the walls so the spiderers can't climb it
>>551498328>>551497207I actually like both of these ideas. A secret passageway from a house that leads into a dark forest. Our main house is the copper-roofed mansion so it would be a great place to start from for mobs to keep spawning around that area. Thanks anons!
>>551554271>water is going the wrong way. You want it coming from the backidk what you mean by that, sounds like you're saying just rotate the thing 90 degrees which will make no difference.>>551553863ok
>>551553778>>new drop less than two weeks awaywait what? they only just started snapshots i thought. wtf is even in the drop then?
>>551555086last snapshot was technical, the next one on jan 6th (presumably) will have new stuff for the drop
>>551549390Because there's a difference between the copper block for building gaining its characteristic protective oxidation layer, and the storage block iron rotting beyond repair.

You know what I have wanted for a long time?Dye-able enchantment glints. Imagine how cool it would be for your Fire Aspect sword to glow red or orange instead of purple.
>play game again after not playing for 10 years>dig down at the start of the game as I always did>hit lava cavern, hear monster sounds with lights flickering>almost feel like in an horror game>killed by wardenThat was quick, I guess the game is a lot more dangerous now.
>>551571136That would be nice, I actually use the vanilla tweaks resource pack to change the glint but sadly it does the same glint across all objects so you have to stick to one but it's nice not having everything fucking purple of all things
1.19 was the update that added sex to minecraft
>>551538518When it gets within three blocks of you.But both the client and the server have to agree on this being the case.If the client say that you hit the fireball, but the server says it already exploded, then it exploded. It travels 20 blocks/s, so it takes 150ms to tavel 3 blocks. So if your ping is above 150ms, it is impossible for you to hit it.If your ping is 100ms, you have to hit it when it's within 3 blocks, but not closer than two blocks.
>>551538518If you're just trying to get the achievement it's a lot easier to do by shooting the fireball with a bow.

hypothetically, lets say i got several stacks of bedrock on a 1.21.11 server, whats the first thing i should do with it?
>>551621694obviously make a box around spawn to trap everyone who dies without a bed.I think there's a way to force everyone to spawn on one available square instead of the surrounding blocks.
when constructing a house, how much should one consider materials with high blast resistancescause i don't want a random creeper smashing all my chests just cause i was standing too close to a wall
>>551622571I think the game prioritizes grass blocks for player spawning, and after that full blocks, and after that will always spawn the player at the exact coordinates of the world spawn. So slabbing up the spawn area should work
>>551622804I mean, you should spawn proof not just your interiors, but also the areas around your builds and any place you might stand AFK at. I never consider blast resistance, and I don't think I've had a creeper explode close to a build of mine for 5+ years
>>551622804After a certain period of play, you really stop caring for mobs and just start playing on peaceful outside of when you need xp. And no, I'm not spawnproofing every single block in a 10k radius around me.
>>551622804It doesn't really matter once you have a fence or wall around your settlement.
>>551626361I enjoy building walls and fences, and finding ways to hide lighting around my builds so it fits the aesthetic. Feeling safe because you put in the work to deserve it, feels a lot more satisfying than simply disabling all threats. At least now that mobs only spawn in complete darkness. Spawning proofing back when they spawned at light level 7 and below was fucking awful
>>551626653I sometimes like my builds to be encased in darkness with only a couple points of lighting. Otherwise it looks like everything is spotlighted all the time; not a fan. In real life, when walking around late at night, there is this church near that, in contrast to everything else around it, is never lit up at night. It's just this imposing structure you can barely make out against the starry night. There's just something very beautiful about it.
>>551627319I get that, but playing within the rules of the game is still more enjoyable to me. You can use soul lanterns, glow lichen, and other faint light sources if you want to keep the light level low. Works great combined with slabs and other un-spawnable blocks. Or you could build in biomes where no mobs spawn, like a mushroom field. I've done that before, specifically because I wanted to a dark cave feel
>>551627721Fair enough. I play on an older version where there are still spawns at light level 7. For me it's just more sensical to switch between hard and peaceful every now and then. Whatever individual challenge the combat posed was sucked out a long time ago anyways.
>>551360847>best enchantment>worst itemIs there a way to transfer mending to another item?
>>551635834Nope, but there really should be. Would make random tools you find in chests at least somewhat usable
it's wild to me that the magma cube's dumbass accordion animation was actually an intentional choice to make it "not a recolor"is there a resource pack that makes it like the regular slime?
Today I think I'll make another castle
>>551643594This was all I could find
>>551643769I also wanna build a castle but I can't decide on what material to use. Would a dark oak plank castle look nice?

I'm a block vomit enjoyer
>>551648628That's more of a mansion material, in my book. But you can use stripped logs for support, if nothing else
>>551650382I'd argue that isn't block vomit. The patches are put there deliberately, and look like ivy spreading across the wall and possibly damaging it, or stains on the concrete from environmental factors. It also looks a lot better when further away, where you can't really tell the gray blocks apart
>>551648806It's a surprisingly aesthetic block for building.
>>551648628>>551652972Some here made this using stripped wood and planks, a little bit of sandstone too
>>551650382That looks kind of like the old Georgia Mental Health Institute building, which was used in Stranger Things.
>>551465605The two important things about large biomes are:1) BIG fucking oceans with no land for thousands of blocks in every direction2) patches of a specific biome aren't as vast as you'd think but seeds tend to repeat the same set of biomes around spawn for thousands of blocks while the rest are pushed further out, and in large biomes it means you might not see specific biomes (usually arid or swampy or cold) until you're 20k or even 30k blocks away from spawnYou're gonna be relying on nether travel and elytras a lot in those specific instances.
If you used a ouija board to ask for a minecraft seed do you think you could get a haunted world?
>>551654304I really don't like the impressionistic trend of people using materials that don't really make sense just for their colours. It reveals that the builds are only meant to really be looked at from afar in a controlled environment, not explored in-game. In picrel it's less of an issue, I am more specifically talking about people block vomiting stuff like coral & gravel in stone structures, but still, it's weird to use wood as a stand-in for stone.
>>551658515I respectfully disagree. I understand the issue you have, that's not on the player but the game. If we had multiple colors/shades of stone materials or just more options for pre-existing ones in general, then we'd be able to create these out of the appropriate materials. Personally I don't mind gravel or dead coral because they at least look like stone textures up close, coal ore in stone blocks is where I draw the lineUnfortunately all of that brings about another problem, inventory management and bloat
>>551465605I was playing on large biomes for 8 years and only recently realized how tame and lame terrain becomes when there are no biomes clashing into each other.
>>551445762Tomboy vibe maybe?
Why is there still no fence gate equivalent for iron/copper bars or stone walls?
I'll say it: remove mending and unbreaking, buff the bad enchantments, and redo enchanting to let you pick exactly what you want like a crafting recipe that takes xp levels. there, fixed the game
>>551532561Sand or gravel. And sometimes the treasure just doesn't spawn.
>>551663097Bars aren't like fences, fence gates and walls, they're not meant to stop entities from jumping over them. Gates are compatible with walls, they even change their position to adjust to walls. Gates made of a heavy material like cobblestone would be hard to move, it doesn't make sense, look at the irl british stone walls they're based on and tell me it makes sense. Stone walls just use normal gates or stiles.
>>551658515Same. When I see something that looks soft used in context where it's supposed to be a hard material, it always looks off to me. I can't do custom trees with planks either, because real trees don't have random striped parts. Matching texture is just as important to me as matching color
>>551663557You can't remove mending without fixing the anvil first
>>551665324But there's no way to put a door or gate into bars that doesn't look jank and shit which is just bizarre because bars are typically used in jails and whatnot with a door built in.
