I can relate to Marysbury I am not gonna sugarcoat it, people are imperfect beings and ugly inside, we are all shit. AFK Journey so far has had two collabs that have had events tied to it, both times they have used the same sort of tabletop game map for the event stages. Timelocks keep you from finishing the event stages from start of course, the game is all about having different sorts of gates that keep the players from advancing too much. The story with both events has been "characters from popular thing end up in the world, they have zany adventure with old characters showing up for a few lines and then disappear back into irrelevancy because the game does not have story relevancy for anyone after their spotlight moment is over". Tales of Crestoria also had a very cookiecutter event structure, the event story basically had story for about 10 minutes, after that all that remained was doing the grind stage over and over again until the event period is over. Limbus also doesn't have a very imaginative event system, the only thing going with that is that their events are tied to the main plot progression, otherwise it's the same "here is where the plot starts, now go through event stages one at a time, have a few fights which give you a bit of event currency and eventually get to the last stage which you then re-do over and over again to get all the event currency you need to empty the shop." I think the most creative event they had was the character raising-minigame attached to one from the current season, it affected to how powerful the character you have in your control at their fight scenes was. My experience has therefore been that FGO staff does try and shake things up a bit, like the silly basebuilding in the first Summer event, the boardgame rolling with Requiem collab and Imaginary Scramble having the minigame for revealing the map for all the bullshit hidden. Not that they don't just sometimes have a very normal event where the structure has basically been "repeat stages to points to unlock more"

On the left we got the tabletop thing for the event, you go through those stages and proceed to a new area once the timelock is lifted. The thing on the right is the UI bit where you get to experience the story bits of the event and have a few fights along the way that are braindead easy because it's an autobattler, the only difficulty the game has to offer is in everything PvP-related. And there is plenty of PvP-orientated content in that fucking game. Also funnily enough, you can finish the event story a lot sooner than you get to finish the last stage in the grind in comparison to how FGO has you unlock the best grind spots when you finish the event story.
