If epic wants to make builds more interesting why not bring back traps? There's like 16 of them in the game and some of them are fucking fun like the mounted turret and directional boost pads. Hell just looking at it seems like they completely gave up making new traps after Chapter 2 and I mean the logic is pretty sound. Traps are a part of builds and builds is a part of Fortnite, just make new traps and interesting mechanics around building. Maybe something that actually promotes you build and protect an objective to gain bonuses from it or something, I don't know.

I didn't use the exploit or any exploit, but my vbucks were zeroed out and I can't claim winterfest gifts. Someone please tell me why this game is so broken? If this is one of the most popular games in the goddamn world, why can't Ebin get it to work right most of the time?

The Chapter 5 start controversy was retarded, but no matter how you slice it players animate solely for TPS gameplay and absolutely nothing else. No sprint with visible weapons (which they've done with Ballistic guns so god only knows why nowhere else), no proper neutral stance that isn't meant to be holding a one-handed pickaxe, the attempts to make them more dynamic lead to characters throwing their entire bodies into leaning turns, and occasionally they'll do the reverse direction of their intended animation for a second before catching up to the proper 'cycle' and direction.

C5, new weapon mechanics, weapon mods, bosses, their vaults, medallions, etc. It was enough of an overhaul to the game to be a big shift, controversial though it was. C6, we get some rebalancing of the C5 ideas, no more weapon mods or projectile rounds, more OG-style but with fancy new movement tech.. that they killed half of halfway through the chapter and never bothered to fix or re-implement even now. And then C7? Uhhh- bro, like, a gold rework, another boss and medallion rework, some anomalies that pop up with items and rule additions, and DBNO changes! Look at our new UI, can't you see we mean business?

There's no real flash or pizazz right now, nothing that marks a big shift to the baseline. They're so scared of Ch5, and the increasing hatred for medallions and bosses in Ch6, that they're obsessed with OG style stuff and homages, and since OG Mode is having a massive resurgence success to the point of splitting Build BR in goddamn half, they'll be encouraged even more to go down that route.

I was going to say, Chapter 5 started off like an actual chapter. Even though it was "back to basics" sorta stuff there was enough mechanical changes to seperate itself from Chapter 4 and be it's own thing. But you're right that this Chapter pretty much feels like Chapter 6.5, although even then I feel that's a little to charitable. There's really nothing new here. It does make me wonder if the yearly chapter cycle will continue to benefit this game, I hope we're not at the point where Epic's actually running out of ideas for new things to implement now because I'd rather have longer chapters if it means the next one will actually feel fresh and different when it comes rather than just a yearly map change.

It wasn't a great mechanic for a BR. Having everyone be in random groups at the edge of the map leads to a blood bath and too few people left in an otherwise empty map. An interesting new mechanic would be something like having everyone spawn at a random location on the island. Maybe an animated intro of your character doing something in the island (eating at a restaurant, shooting on a film set, hanging out in a skate park, etc.) and then stopping as the match starts. But surfing felt like it needed to be done because California theme, and not worked out.

Also I'm now realizing Loot Island's been absent for a while, it was always kind of flawed but the fact that its been 100% gone with no equivalent to take its place feels weird now. You're just waiting storms and rotating with no long-term goals besides maybe a boss mythic, or in this chapter's case, seeing if an RNG anomaly will help you.

I'd still say the surfing only did this for the first circle, the rest of the match would be more drawn out as everyone has to move in to find players on the opposite side of the map from them, I saw matches in that first week or so that had 20 something players left after the first circle. That's boring. A faster moving storm with more damage would be more beneficial for what you're after.

Playing builds as a ZB player just feels weird.
