>>551575415>What does Owlcat do better than non-Owlcat studios when it comes to romance?I honestly can't think of anything... They have it I guess?
>>551575336>I escaped the arena! They never saw it coming!>even though they've been doing this for ten thousand years>I tricked a large xenobeast into smashing through one of the arena walls!>even though the only accessible arena from this location is a platform floating in the void and it has no walls>I've been fighting my way across the city since!>even though I have no weapon or armour right nowWhatever really happened, she clearly doesn't want to talk about it.
Owlcat is the only good crpg studio these days that offer long compelling stories with fun mechanics, the rest are mostly indies.
>>551575415Awful question yrlietard
>>551575567Marzipan would goad her about her smelling of Drukhari cum if it was otherwise.
>>551575684hol up, for the niggas thinking im whiteaaaaayy brown esl waifuschizoing it uphey hey, play owlcrap every day
>>551575415>What does Owlcat do better than non-Owlcat studios when it comes to romance? They know what I want
Y****t
Play a budget CRPG and help aspiring, smaller studios.
>>551575567>>551575807The only logical reason here is that the Emperor really is looking out for her>gets visions about some Saintess' artifact>able to kill two far stronger people with ease>survives the xeno rape capital
>>551575938>safeugly RTgay shit
>>551575897Are you having a breakdown
>>551575695It's a pretty broad question about romances but your mind defaulted to Yrliet care to explain why?
One cool thing about AI is that even CRPGs made by tiny teams can have access to full cast voice acting.Don't shy away from the future -- embrace it.
>>551575415>TQNothing really. What they do do though is have much better companions than the rest. The only game that compares with Owlcat companions is BG3.
>>551576041For someone who hates religion and the notion of god the Emperor sure is active.....
Was there a lot of crying about Ember not being romanceable back in the day
abelard and RT taking turns, if not DPing, the ship bed wench
>>551576672Ember is a literal child
>>551576672By some >>551576713She's mentally stunted
>>551576672No, not really. You'll get the random>SEX WITH EMBERbut no one really cared to romance her.
>Want to make a Str based Commissar Bladedancer in Power Armour after the last patch>Also want new contentThe wait on the Necron DLC is torturous, I tried playing out the last patch with the shit changed by 1.5 but got bored in act 2.
>>551576693black women who look like men in their portraits? sign me up
>>551576925Just wait until both dlcs are out before doing another playthrough
>>551575415Sending this with the survey
>>551576672She’s so obviously treated as a child that only pedos wanted it
>>551576693nasty
>>551576925Does commissar even do anything if you’re not using a pistol
>>551575415>What does Owlcat do better than non-Owlcat studios when it comes to romance?I guess they are slightly more willing to do weird unorthodox romance options that go beyond "conventionally attractive white human woman". But not by much.
>>551576693Based
I would play as a female rogue trader if I could participate in the orgies with jae
Confession: I wanted to buy Rogue Trader but I am holding out specifically because they announced it would receive a second season pass. I know that some of you are in the same boat.
Who's idea was Jocasta
>>551577332Olga
>>551577332Mine. I liked how much of an unlikable hardass she is. Fits her role as the head of the enforcers perfectly.
>>551577280Same. Though from the looks of things they aren't going to add any companions that interest me in the slightest to Rogue Trader so it doesn't really matter whether I buy it now or when all the DLC comes out.
>>551577280I'm holding off on a replay for the same reason Mid-year for DLC 3, end of year for DLC 4 apparently
>>551577238>I guess they are slightly more willing to do weird unorthodox romance options that go beyond "conventionally attractive white human woman"What studio sticks by that though? Bioware?
>>551577774Bioware likes to wait until they release the biggest steaming pile of dogshit before adding somewhat interesting romance options that people asked for, Like how they waited until Andromeda to give us a Turian chick.
>>551577237Nope but you can focus Fellowship and go into Master Tactitican and as long as you end your turn next to an enemy (which is easier with nerfed Death From Above)you can give a ton of bonus resolve to allies. Also Motivation means you can take a pot shot and gain a bunch of MP after killing everyone close enough to chain dance on.
>>551578028Xenosfuckers get the rope
>>551578558Thanks I want to be tied up by a hot alien
why do owlpaypigs accept 4 dlcs for a game
>>551578886>implying I've ever paid for any of their games
>>551578886CRPG "expacs" have been long accepted though. Very amusing pirating older ones, mainly, bioware and be thrown multiple. Amusingly, Larian hasn't done one yet, well except for Divinity 2 but that's not a CRPG. Obsidian and Owlcat have done so. Styg has also done so.
>>551578558We get it, you're gay.
>>551576693WHITE underwear
>>551579136Expansion packs are not the norm anymore unfortunately. And no dlc and expansion pack are not the same thing
>>551579341The WotR and RT dlcs pretty much were expansion packs
Played 50 hours of the alpha now. Fun game, but it should be more difficult, honestly. It's pretty easy even on daring, as unfair isn't available yet.
>>551579341Expansion packs were dlc.
>>551579638just turn up all the sliders
>>551579341how do you even define DLC vs Expansion? By Hours you get out of it?
>>551580776Yes and it needs to be independant from the main story. For example - Lord of Destruction is an expansion. Awakening is an expansion
>>551580776nta but back in my day expansions meant a big chunk of content that usually added a new landmass and a new story, whereas dlc were usually one or two missions, perhaps a weapon or somesuch
>>551580776Expacs are DLCs but not all DLCs are expacs. DLCs can be as small as horse armours while expacs have to give a substantial addition to the entire thing.
>Mass Effect 1 dlcs were free on pcI wonder what came over them to allow such wanton communism
>>551581114Friendly reminder that Expantion packs predate the wide spread of the high speed Internet and had to be distributed in the old fashioned way, so they by definition can not be "downloadable content"
>>551580776DLC used to be little shit like the OG horse armour.
>>551577449I can't fucking stand her, they did a good job. It feels like her cruelty is a little too blunt and one-dimensional, though.
>>551581965Her cruelty is self-indulgent instead of disciplinary. She's shit
>>551582070That’s literally the exact kind of person who’d end up doing that job
>>551582283There's plenty of better men on the ship. Jocasta just has her position because of Sauerbackian nepotism
>>551582070Nah, I think it is fine that she also gets off on it. But the problem is that she only has one response to the issues when you let her handle things. As a former second-in-command and then commander of the enforcers, they should have shown her being cruel in more varied and inventive ways. It makes sense for an enforcer to get used to using blunt cruelty against the lower deck scum, especially on a ship like Theodora's, but not 100% of the time past the deck enforcer commander level.
>>551575415Huh, Solomourne made it almost to the top this time. That's a first.
>>551582561>yes idira yrliet better womenbig trvkes
>sex lexhell yeah
>>551582283Not really. Her self-indulgence just means that she will always choose violence even when it's not the best course of action which makes her terrible for the job.
>>551582909It also means that she will be the first to fall to slaanesh. People like her are a menace on a whole other level in that setting
>>551575567She got goaded into Comissar's little racket so that deldar could later sample her despair on top of her pain when he sends his current group back. Everything was staged all along.
>>551583074She's too stupid for despair, and drukeks are stupid for not realizing just how stupid she is. She despairs for a whole 1 second then gets over it
>>551583060She might be a self-indulgent psycho, but she is thoroughly clad in the Emperor's Light.
I hate that now when people say Jae they mean the brown girl from RT and not Jaethal from Kingmaker
>>551582561we were talking about him last thread
>>551583406Nobody ever called Jaethal Jae
>>551583296They all are until they're not. Only sisters are canonically immune to corruption
>>551577280Don't wait, play now. The roster is already unwieldy and the game isn't going to get substantially better with more content, because there's such a massive amount of content already. It will turn into a complete slog. In fact, I would play with both dlcs disabled for the first time (though some like Kibs as a female romance you can actually influence, so there's that minor consideration)
reminder
>>551583763Why dont we have any chill recognizable posters?
>im going to screencap my boyfriend's shitposting and turn it into a collageyour parents are disappointed in you
You should have been able to replace what's her name as the head enforcer. She's the only officer you can express disdain and dissatisfaction for (and vigdis a little bit), yet you can't tell her to hit the road.
there's something inhuman about owlcat writing, as if the writers were taught by AI and not from reading real books
>>551582909Who would expect that from an enforcer
>>551584161They're Russians and all Russians are philosophically inclined, but they are also ESL's.
>>551583763Can you imagine the apocalyptic meltdown if Tristian was a romancable female, and Nyrissa was male?
>>551584328They write in russian, though, and it's translated into English later.
>>551583187Argentina is very smart, ok?
>>551584432And the Russian is superior, clearly. A lot of humor is lost, like how the chaos cultists in Footfall chant with the syllabic meter of IS.
I have seen other generals mention "Froggy". Is it just a persona? There isn't actually an Anon named Froggy that is trying to ruin all of our generals... is there?
>other generals>our generalsthe fuck is this tourist babbling about
>>551583187All of Comissar's victims are dimwits, but the sheer mass of them makes up for it.
>>551584627It's just one German schizo that posted here and in /twg/, he's mostly in /twg/ now
>>551584161It's the translation. When translated to English, Russian always comes across as strangely circuitous and indirect. You can notice the same thing in Russian government press releases.
>>551584992Breznhev my beloved.
Started with WotR, I know nothing of Pathfinder. What's a fun class/archetype for a first playthrough without getting spoiler-y?
>>551583757I wouldn't recommend RT without Void Shadows. It adds a lot of naturally-fitting important stuff without being too much.I would agree with avoiding Lex for the first run.
>>551583746Sure, no one is ever truly safe from corruption. Even Sisters have been corrupted before, I think, but there have only been a handful and I think there was one potential Grey Knight who got corrupted. I'm just saying there are plenty of psychos like Jocasta in the Imperium that never attract the attention of Chaos. Her self-indulgent cruelty is a danger and avenue for Chaos, but not a pressing one.
Just arrived on JanusDo they actually think that Yrliet is a mutant?
RT really feels like it falls apart post Comorragh
>>551585251Humanity despite all the touting of kill xenos is woefully undereducated and most cannot identify xenos on sight, especially as abhumans are relatively common in the Imperium.
>>551585251You have to understand that your usual Imperium civvie isn't really all that exposed to xenos and some mutants really do look that weird.
>>551584161Zoomers have been fucking broken by AI and can’t read anything longer than a few sentences without thinking it’s AI
>>551585251Yes, specifically some kind of local ab-human. It can't be understated that 99 out of every 100 humans in 40k have no idea what a xenos actually is. Even if you pulled the governor aside and told her that Yrliet is an Eldar, she would probably just ask you "What's an Eldar?"
>Yes. Russian and English differ significantly in ways that can make translations sound “off” even when grammatically correct: Russian relies heavily on context rather than fixed word order, uses aspect and nuance in verbs that have no direct English equivalents, and tolerates repetition and abstraction that feel unnatural in English prose. It also favors longer, more formal sentence structures and emotional directness that can seem stiff or melodramatic when translated literally. If translators preserve Russian phrasing too closely instead of fully localizing it, the result is correct English that still carries Russian rhetorical habits, which is especially noticeable in narrative-heavy games.
thank you claude
>>551584389>and Nyrissa was male>tfw no salad bussy for my chad human male fighterWhy even bros. .
>>551583945I cant think of any except maybe the who else is high af poster but he post on vrpg now. Owlcat waifus have turned most of the regular posters here schizophrenic.
>>551583945It’s a good thing that we don’t
Are deathwatch and only war crpgs gonna flop since there is no potential for xeno waifu or husbando?
>>551585251Most people haven't seen an alien ever, barely even heard of them.I would have liked her to try to keep up the facade a little bit. Heinrix would see through it but if he's not with you you'd have to take a Lore: Xenos check>Wait a minute... did you just say "Kae Morag"?>You're not an honest subject of the emperor! You're a xeno!>Cassia: "Ahhh Lord Captain I'm scared!"
>>551585251Yes, except Vistenza. She knows
Owlcat crpgs and its romances have been a disaster for crpgg
>>551585519>tolerates repetition and abstraction that feel unnatural in English prose>longer, more formal sentence structures>stiff or melodramatic Yep that's our owlkek
>>551585401Eldar don't look particualrly weird. and there are plenty of weirder looking abhumans in imperium. To the uninitiated the eldar probably look like some sort of voidborn
>>551586313Oh right the eldar skull you can get from that clerkVistenza knew perfectly well didn't she
>>551586242If its this ignorant out on the frontier at the border of Imperium space it must be even worse in the core of the imperium.
>>551584389All I know is that if Tristian was female way more people would suddenly be ok with her betrayal
>>551586553Yeah the majority of people are pretty insular. Very few people even leave their home systems. But as a rogue trader you'll encounter more widely travelled people, crew of merchant ships, smugglers, aliens etc
>>551586521She was most likely the one to fuck and kill that eldar
>>551585251If you happen to get the eldar skull from the clerk character in the square before you meet Yrliet, hold off on showing it to her. It just upsets her and you don't learn anything. But you can show it someone else at the end of the level for a dramatic scene.
>>551585251>my compliments to your rifleman on the roof, their shooting was very useful in the ambush>But Lord Captain, I didn't have anyone on the roofI was sure that was going to be Yrliet's intro. That no one knows she's there and she's doing some sneaky ranger stuff.
>>551587025>>But Lord Captain, I didn't have anyone on the roofTht wa a bit weird. AT first I thought she was lying to pretend that she didn't have an eldar merc in her employ, but then when you ask her again she's like - yeah, she's somehwere in the garden go meet her if you want
>>551586640I'm not gay or a woman, but I am a Tristian apologist to the end. His "betrayal" is entirely forgivable because he's a dumbass naive angel guy who thought that if he didn't play ball with the salad chick that he would be doomed to never see his goddess again and he goes to extreme lengths to undo whatever damage he could after he learns the truth.
>>551586780Slaneesh must have been very pleased with them that night.
>>551587510>You don't understand! If I didn't cause the deaths of hunderds of people I would never be able to simp again!
Jae is a better waifu than yirlet because she is romancable.
>>551587691It's the morally correct thing to do to simp for a goddess
>>551587691>why would the servant of a deity care about their deity? Are they stupid?A mystery.
>>551588393jae would be a better waifu if she was a random guardswoman
>>551588393Too bad I kill her every run. Oh well. Both of them.
>>551585508Some pretty crazy shit happens on Janus mutant-wise later on that you only get to interact with via text.
>>551589348Joke:How will you know if a dogmatard killed Jae, Idira, and Yrliet?Answer:Don't worry, they'll tell you.
If you think abour it the real dogmatic thing to do would be to keep idira around just so she can suffer more
>>551589678Heretics and xenos get the bullet.
>>551588538I imagine his deity would not look kindly upon killing innocents bacause he was having simping withdrawals

>>551589678I had Argenta blam Idira when she freaks out during warp transit on my first playthrough
>>551589832At least the inquisition is an equal opportunity employer. DH is looking to be an Iconotard game.
>>551589678That's right
>>551590048I will only consider Dark Heresy an improvement over Rogue Trader if whatever DLCs it ends up having adds at least 2 more xeno companions (that aren't Eldar or Kroot, so its four different aliens)
>>551589889Eh Sarenrae has some pretty fucked up sects that she still hasn’t rejected
>>551590048I wonder what Septima would think about my boy Caiaphas Cain and his actions.
>>551589678I'm a dogmatard, and I didn't kill Jae at all.
>>551590240Yrliet would smooch Caiphas Cain, chastely on the cheek
>>551590048If Eisenhorn has his pet daemonhost, then I'm making one too If Ravenor was buddies with a farseer, then I'm consorting with aliens too.
>>551590048Heresy is what inquisitors do
>>551590174I'm hoping for dlcs that don't have companions at all. But I don't think they could sell it.
Fun fact; Eldar don't sweat or exude bodily odor or liquids.Yrliet's in a constant state of dry pussy.
>>551590048>>551590347>>551590404No no no no no!! This isn't what the inquisition or 40k is about!

>>551589678You forgot Marz waifutard
>>551589971I've talked Idira down and gave her hope and support, like they do to men about to jump off the roof.Gave her to Jimmy for dogmatic points afterwards. No, I didn't feel good about it.
>>551590240How did we end up with *blam* memes
Yrliet and Jae are the worst rt companions

>>551590262Yeah sameI can't see why anyone would kill her. Like for what?

>>551591391He did help her with her headache on Rykad.
>>551590653>Gave her to Jimmy for dogmatic points afterwardsI can understand if you did this back at launch because points where really tight back then, but you don't need to do this anymore really for points, the game gives you enough now with the dlc + some redistribution from an update that you can sink a level or two in the others and still max out your primary (I think), or atleast have enough points leftover to hit the rank 4 benchmarks in the late game
>>551591489>tries to indirectly kill me with imperial guard assassins for hosting xenos, as is my right>belittles me and commandeers me despite the inquisition outranking the SoB>actively threatens the calixian enclave with murderShe's a bitch
>>551591369>>551591460Trading with xenos is literally your job as rogue trader
>>551591854yes *my* job as rogue trader, not hers. She is taking my profit, not to mention she is skirting imperial law as opposed to me who is working by divine right.
>My life for yours.
>>551591854And selling firearms is the job of people with FFLs. If some dealer starts selling guns its still a crime. Rogue Traders are allowed to trade with aliens, Jae sure as fuck isn't.
I like jae conceptually, a cold trader makes perfect sense to recruit and make an associate as a rogue trader, they can represent the more shady sides of making dosh, and if its one thing rogue traders like its making dosh, big daddy emps doesn't need to know where all that extra profit factor I make on the side
>>551591391As long as she doesn't try to read his naughty thoughts and mock him for it

>>551592725
Jae is a wasted slot
>>551593392Unironically I missed her on my first playthrough and the game was so much more enjoyable.
I was certain that during Argenta's companion quest that she had been replaced by a demon after she went into the ship. The conversation on the bridge just seemed suspect, but I guess it was mediocre writing.
>>551593501>the game was so much more enjoyable. She doesn't interfere with the plot
>>551591626I wouldn't throw away a companion purely for points. But it made sense to get rid of a scary chaos bomb when she has stopped ticking, at least.
>>551593392Jae is a great ally.
*rubs hands*
Remind me again why did Calcazar decided to make us his errand boy? Chorda seems like a much better candidate. She'd be happy to assist him and prove her faith and loyalty
>>551594117Get out of here Tzeentch
It feels wrong being a commissar rogue trader
>>551594196She is a dogmatard and only a tool for a radical like Calcazard, not a true ally
>>551594404Yeah, and? You can be a dogmatard as well and that doesn't stop him.
>>551593648She's just such an autist her normal behaviour comes across as an inhuman monstrosity.
>>551590446I think they could. I certainly don't care about a new companion, and I don't think I'm that unusual. I want to see the existing cast do more. Kibellah was great but that's enough for now.
>>551590446To be honest, Owlcat has this weird tendency to half-ass DLC companions. Like I love the gote twins in Kingmaker, but the were nowhere near as reactive or had as much content as the base game guys. From what I've heard about that black arbites guy it seems that is still the case.
>>551594769you aren't eating peoples brain crazy (yet)
>>551595223I think he has a good amount of content. He’s just boring.

Step aside, the Navigator is cumming.
>>551595067Every survey they do I make a point of telling them that I don't need new companions, I need them to expand on existing ones
>>551594196Too dogmatic, she can't be trusted to be flexible enough to do whatever bullshit Calzone gets us up to.
Underrail needs more lightning abilities, the fact that there is only 2 is lame. Where is my ball lightning? Where is my electric version of pyrokinetic stream?
>>551583746They're not immune, they're just very resistant, both through indoctrination to abhor chaos and through faith powers that repel corruptive forces away from them when it tries to corrupt them. The excerpt from DH 1e that says sisters gain insanity instead every time they would gain corruption is not totally literal, that's a gameplay mechanic intended to convey they are very strong against it. Several other stories have featured sisters being corrupted against their will.Which is another important aspect of this. Only one sister has ever fallen by choice, her name was Sabathiel. The hundreds of others that have fallen were against their will, by great effort from Khorne to make them fall through corruptive outside influences that affected their bodies and minds.Chaos corruption can be by choice because you fall for lies or temptation, or it can be by force from outside influences because your faith was not strong enough to withstand it. A particularly faithful person can breathe in nurgle gas all day and not die, but a person of weak faith can be infected and die a mile away from a nurgle deamon. It all depends on your faith.
>>551598534>They're not immuneYes they arem don't make me post the picture again> Several other stories have featured sisters being corrupted against their will.I don't give a shit what some hack wrote. Rules>fanfiction
Argenta beating a rogue trader and a arch militant is an asspull sure she could kill one by surprise but she is instantly getting killed by the other.
Terendelev not having a portrait was sorta hinting but DAMN
Argenta is pretty much a female space marine, she could easily beat two humans
>>551595974I wouldn't mind that but knowing them it'll mean new Idira and Seelah content gets made.
>>551599696She had the power of tard strength on her side.

>>551598534you will NEVER be a woman
>>551600484Rape bait
>>551591697You don't the right for shit anon. You're an acolyte, and even the ordo xenos are meant to study aliens for the best way to kill them, not fraternize with them. The inquisition also does not "outrank" the sob. This is like saying the CIA "outranks" the navy seals. It doesn't make sense as a statement and shows you don't understand the actual structure of the imperium nor militaries in general. And lastly, it's literally her job to threaten the tyrantine cabal with death. Her mission is to watch them for heresy and eliminate those who fall to far. The Tyrantine cabal is allocated certain leeway compared to most inquisitorial agencies due to the nature of their work, but they still have oversight, and they should, since anyone who gives *themselves* leeway usually falls to chaos, so you need watchdog organizations staring at these groups at all times. Zerbe knows this and accepts her presence. He's already a figrure in the lore, he's not an owelcat OC, and he's smart about these things.

The real answer is that when two pieces of canon contradict each other, recency takes precedent. DH 1e was printed in 2008Also, for 40k in particular, the main rulebook and the codecies take precedence over all third party rpg supplements and all black library publications. The Grey Knights codex features the Bloodtide storyline in which a group of sisters were corrupted against their will by a deamon of Khorne. Since the highest level of canon, a codex, contained this story, we know that it is canon, and that SoB can be corrupted against their will. A 17 year old third party rpg supplemental absolutely does not take precedence over a codex. So the question has been put to rest forever, and this will be referenced in the future when someone mistakenly claims otherwise out of ignorance.

I just had a full on "It's a Wonderful Life" moment over the past day.I was getting pretty fed up with just how difficult some of these fights in Throne of Bhaal are. I just decided to change over to Story Mode and rush on through the next bit of the dungeon. It didn't just feel empty, it felt gross.I had to look again at some advice to get some more ideas on how to use my spells, and it was then that I remembered the first bit of wisdom I ever figured out way back in the Nashkel Mines taking out Mulahey.Enemies are only a threat if they can hit you. Taking away your opponents' ability to act is the best way to win.I basically just loaded up a sequencer with Pierce Magic, Lower Resistance, and Feeblemind, and had poor little Imoen handle all the burden for the plan going well. Over 200 hours of gameplay ago, I decided to make my wizard character as a Transmuter, which means I get a bonus for Alteration, but can't use Abjuration at all. Meaning no protection spells, or shield dispels. So, I've just got to ask. What other sort of mindset changes did you need to do before you fully "got" Real-Time-With-Pause gameplay. I'd hardly say I'm a newbie to the game considering I went all the way from Candlekeep to Hell and back. Still, if what I hear is accurate, and some newer games like Wrath of the Righteous crank up the sheer number of moving parts to keep track of, I'm going to need to keep getting better.Yeah, any more advice to go from good to great? All I ever hear is the basics. like pausing constantly to micromanage everyone, use those items or lose them, spells are your friend, and friends are also your friend because they can take hits for you so the wizard's spell doesn't get interrupted.
>>551614896All that it took for me to get into rtwp is just telling myself spam pause if it gets to hard.

>>551615054>>551615098It's actually kind of funny how many people seemingly don't know this.Once I figured out to just smack that Spacebar (or the A button since I'm playing on a Steam Deck) whenever anything happens, the game became a lot more like an actual RPG that requires strategy and deep thinking. That's what I'm loving so much about RTWP over standard turn based grid-tactics games. Any little microsecond could be counted as a turn. Instead of getting X amount of feet to move every turn, you get time based on how long the spell took to cast, or your weapon took to swing. Stuff like that.I just realized how well Baldur's Gate teaches you this in Candlekeep of all places. There's a guy just walking laps around the keep in the middle. I wanted to talk to him, but just couldn't accurately click on him. but it's easy if you just pause first.

Meanwhile most RTS games can comfortably be played without pausing at all while still retaining a relatively satisfying level of strategy. I played DoW 1 without pausing once since I didn't realise that the game even could be paused

>>551615734That's okay. It's only 364 days to christmas. What I meant by having an "It's a Wonderful Life" moment was that in a moment of frustration, I turned to story mode to just see the ending, but I was expectantly disappointed in how meaningless everything seemed, so I backed out to where I was before, and learned to beat that fight properly.Just like in that boomer movie (which actually came out before the boomer generation) George Bailey regrets his lot in life because all he'd ever dreamed of was to travel and see the world, but because of his own morals and obligations, he stayed in his home town running a very successful business. In a moment of weakness when it seems like his livelihood is going up in flames, and he may be going to prison, he lashes out at his family. Regretting this immensely, he readies to take his own life. He was saved (in a way) by his Guardian Angel who shows him a world where he never existed. George's mother is a bitter old widow. His brother died at a young age without his older brother to save him. The business he built was bought out by a corrupt monopolistic business man who renamed the town after him.Only once he realizes what he's lost and what he was about to give up does he beg to go back to his family, a changed man. The whole town full of people he helped come to his aid to repay his kindness over the years. You should watch it. It's a good movie. It wasn't even meant to be a christmas movie originally.

>>551615996how many RTS games do you know where you control six very weak and fickle units that all could potentially have dozens of items, spells, and abilities to use at any given moment? That's why it works for an RPG. it's meant to give you time to evaluate your options so you can make a calculated informed decision instead of just reacting on impulse.I like games that test quick thinking and reaction as much as the next guy, but there's definitely a place for slower measured combat. And I notice that I always see people disliking RTWP by just saying that you need to pause a lot to make it work.Yeah, you do. Feel free to explain what's wrong with that.
>>551615469Saying you can make the system feel more strategic by micromanaging every second is like saying a poorly edited action scene can be made enjoyable by making it slowmo. It obviously doesn't address any of the flaws of RTWP, above all, the lack of clarity. Is this spellcaster about to finish casting a spell or do they still have 2 seconds left. Can this hasted melee reach them in time to interrupt them? Did this martial attack already or would issuing a move command break the current attack command? Will moving past this enemy trigger an opportunity attack? And so on. It's sloppy and, in the case of ToB, extremely tedious to mow down hordes of trash mobs with zero tactical input.

On September 14, 2012 Obsidian released a single concept art and scammed $1.1 million dollars in 24 hours, roughly the sum Feargus Urquhart would pay himself and his wife over the course of their kickstarters in a case of unprosecuted embezzlement. This would mark a new development in the con game and lead to a series of never finished or underwhelming games that made their profit off pitching 'stretch goals' or features never actually added, even taking it a step further and selling spaceships and backer npcs to gullible caucasians with left leaning tendencies. These gullible individuals would go on to call this 'the rpg renaissance,' and never be held responsible or apologize for their bad posts aggrandizing scammers who took their money. Feargus and his right hand thug Josh Sawyer would go on to fire all the staff of Obsidian for cheap interns, pushing out Chris Avellone in the process for refusing to scam with them. To this day they are still allowed to make posts begging and scamming for money, even though there are legitimate group funding platforms that give a return on investment.

Age of Decadence Stinks1- There is nothing to do in the game except clicking in the dialogue screen. How can a game be an RPG where you can't activate the combat, sneaking, pickpocketing, etc. whenever you want? All you do is click something on the dialog screen, then realize that the character you have created has insufficient skills and you have to start the dialog from the beginning by an endless save/load grind. You guys calling a text-based game decorated with graphics an RPG.2- At the end of the story we see that all the old wives' tales told in the inns are true. This is how all the characters who are sane, don't believe in such nonsense and are materialistic are destroyed. Because they were all wrong. This kills replayability too.3- You have to rotate the camera to see most interactive objects. Why not an isometric game with a static camera? Seeing those ugly 3D bitmaps was not interesting at all.4- Vince is someone who throws "Pepe screech" at the slightest criticism. According to him, everyone who doesn't like his game is a casual Elder Scrolls fan. But if you throw undeserved praises to his game, then you are the most pro RPG player. Such a toxic mindset.

What is Most misogynist RPG Ever Made?At first, pondering this question in my own head, I thought of Black Souls & Black Souls II, because you can:Rape every female NPCMurder every female NPCRaping a female NPC captures her into your rape dungeon, where you can rape her again (with a new, unique dungeon-rape dialogue)You can then murder the female NPC after you raped her and captured into your rape dungeon and rape her againThis seemed quite misogynist to me, but then I remembered all these studies about how women often reach orgasm during rape. So maybe rape is not so misogynist? Also, Black Souls is full of women in leadership positions, and otherwise strong women characters. Princesses, powerful female mages, goddesses, girlbosses of all kind. Of course you can rape every single one of them, but before you do that they will likely kill you many times. Not very misogynist at all.So which RPG is truly the most misogynist? Requirements:1.no powerful women or strong women or female leaders at all2.you cannot rape women because there's a chance the woman would enjoy it

My Arcanum review part 1 because of the character limit.Let me preface this post by saying that I don't actually hate Arcanum. To me it is the quintessential 6/10, a game that despite being relatively lame is still worth playing, if only to get inspired by its shortcomings to do better. The prose is good and the game puts forward a lot of interesting ideas. Out of all RPGs I like though I like Arcanum the least by far. So allow me tear into this codex darling and explain to you why it bites.Let's start with the the combat. I think it is uncontroversial to say that the combat is laughably bad even by the standards of the time. My main issue is not even that builds are so heavily unbalanced. I actually like asymmetry, because then it becomes part of the fun to experiment and discover which builds are the best. However, what I don't like is when the most effective builds are those that really shouldn't be the most effective. In Arcanum, during a time where revolvers exist, the most straight forwardly effective build is a medieval style melee fighter. In fact, it is ridiculous how rarely firearms are used, how much they suck and how comparatively common fucking broadswords and chainmail still are. Besides that, enemy and encounter design is boring and complete shit, switching between TB and RT combat is utterly broken and everyone who has played the game can attest to that, which is why I will save us all some time and not belabour the point any further. It amazes me that the game was allowed to ship like this.
Are these codex posts
>>551621965Ye, either a bot copy pasting or just a schizo
>>551621965report it for the visual pollution it is
>>551621927Arcanum's story is well liked, for reason that elude me. First of all, the story commits the cardinal sin of it not being about you, the PC. You are a spectator, an errand boy without any substantial motivation or a meaningful arc. Virgil is the main fucking character, not you. You don't exist to participate in and shape the game's story, you only exist to experience the oh so cool plot the writers came up with.Second of all, it commits another cardinal sin: there is no good villain. Aspiring gamedevs listen up, this one's for free: A good villain must, I repeat, MUST shit on the PC's couch right at the beginning of the game. The player must be given a personal reason to defeat the villain and he must learn to hate him. You don't chase down Sarevok because a dying dwarf told you to, you do it because that faggot killed your jewish foster father. You don't pursue Jon Irenicus, the best villain in RPG and gaming history, because there is a prophecy saying that you should, but because that incel tortured you and killed and kidnapped your friends. Arcanum gives you nothing like this. It certainly doesn't help that the whole chosen one angle is a red herring anyway, because it is only revealed as such close to the end of the game, meaning that everything up until that point was basically meaningless. It also turns out that the villain is actually Kerghan IN THE LAST DUNGEON! This is JRPG level writing. That's also 2 red herrings in one plot, which is shit writing as well, because once again it turns out that you were just fucking about for no reason.
>>551621109>that asshole is still around and ruins games with his juvenile writing aWhere's he now?
Imagine being a fag that only plays rpgs for the combat. They swear up and down production value, story, writing, c&c, and atmosphere don't matter then recommend you a game that takes 3 hours to solve that a ten year old could beat. Even combat heavy games like battle brothers or wizardry relies on other elements to carry.I was recently playing king arthur knights tale and it was just so boring and easily solvable, and the combat was all it had besides some atmosphere that was wearing thin; then I switched to risen 2 which I hadn't played in over a decade where the combat consisted of rolling and left click, and I have to say it was better despite awful gameplay because it at least had voiced dialogue, exploration, atmosphere. A game with only combat goes sour as about as quick as a game with only writing, you guys have to stop recommending doo doo.

>>551622385>risen 2The only good Risen was the first

The problem with turn-based games is the only "tactics" are the builds. I've never played a turn-based game that isn't equivalent to playing chess where you know the AIs first 5 moves. It usually goes like this: you start a game not knowing any of the systems and at first. It's fun to figure out what works, but within a few hours you "crack" the game and it becomes braindead. Usually, the very first area in a game is the most difficult before you figure out what works and repeat it ad nauseum. Essentially you abuse the very predictable AI, and the actual tactical puzzles are very few. They give you movement limitations as if the game ever truly takes advantage of them. Increasing difficulty only limits viable builds and game styles without doing much of anything to improve on the puzzles because the only real puzzle is builds and repeating the same tactic over and over once you figure it out.Peak of gaming are games like doom eternal and dark souls series. Yes, the adventures in codex beloved games like fallout, bg2, etc... are great but the gameplay is basically witcher 3. You are all hypocrites. Nearly all the top 100 rpg codex games suffer exact same problem as Witcher 3 and just because the game is "turn-based" does not make it any less braindead. Instead of spamming left click, you spam the same "tactic" in turns as if it makes any meaningful difference.I am sure turn-based games where every fight is a puzzle at every turn exists (like chess), I just haven't found it. I am not saying real time are much better (Witcher 3 says hello), but at least I've played quite a few well-designed gameplay loops in RT games. Perhaps forcing quick decision making in a real time fight makes for a much easier puzzle design set up for meaningful combat.
Graphics fags are the reason for the decline of rpgs.As technology progressed throughout the years, gamers thirst for better graphics increased by several magnitude. Naturally, game devs began to cater to these, colloquially termed, 'graphics whores' by pushing the boundaries by creating better and better games in a photo-realistic style. Rpg devs were not immune to this trend and went along with this. We can see this influence in the RPG sphere by isometric styled games falling out of favor and giving rise to the huge popularity of Bioware, TES etc. Regardless of how these games are viewed in the Codexian perspective, I would say it's fair to say that they were commercially successful and popular. However the problem with transitioning to more and more photo-realistic graphics is the production cost of games began to skyrocket. When the budget for a single title is at a set amount and creation of graphical assets keeps eating a bigger portion of the pie, something has got to give. What was lost is the attention given to game-play, story, mechanics etc. We can see now that to make games more profitable, they are even being seperated into chunks of DLC, MTX and other shenanigans to keep making bigger profits.I do think this argument totally is missing a lot of factors that occured in the industry between 2003-2014 but I do think that the trend of photo-realism and increasing production costs did lead to companies and executives making slimy movies that do not benefit the customer.
