>>551674459Mortar fire is SICK, you fire the flare into the sky and then a few seconds later mortar volleys will come down. Each volley has like 15 or so shells in 3-shell bursts. The entire strike probably lasts ~45 seconds. It's loud as fuck and really spooks the entire map. And you're right, it's really rare. That means other pmcs are super spooked of it because they don't really understand it. In reality, the mortar strikes are really weak. I think even a direct hit will just do minor damage and give you a concussion. So you can use this to your advantage, launch a flare then run straight through the mortar strike to advance on someone OR use it to cover your escape. When I had these unlocked I'd be using them all the time in places like resort to cover up my sounds and cause general chaos. The big advantage is putting everyone else in the raid on edge, while you're still calm because you understand what's going on.

This means that if they want to shoot as soon as they see you, they need to stop basically in the threshold and run the risk of shooting themselves in the head. It also keeps them close together so it's easy to stay on target(s) while you're magdumping. If they don't want to be in that position then at least one of them will need to sprint in and thats your chance to take him out immediately then go back to suppressing the door. In those situations as long as you get one of them you're good. These are the times when having a drum mag REALLY shines. Like a fucking big one, the 95-round rpk mag is great for this shit. You need to keep firing to keep them from just ganging up on you. If you're not cornered in the room, once you kill one and sufficiently spook them then be backing up and out your escape route while you keep suppressing the spots they're trying to push from. Then fucking leave. Of course, the best case scenario is that they all just pile in through that tiny door and all fucking die to your hail of gunfire.

The game would've been much better balanced if lvl 3 armour was the most common one run and 4 was rarer but everyone and their mother runs 4's starting at 2nd traders, there's basically only lvl 4 and 5 tier everything else is irrelevant
