This is true. Whenever I matchmake with a random and they’re wearing Chapter colors I first immediately check their heraldry and iconography
1: if any of it is wrong or out of place, kicked
2: wearing a close assault shoulder identifier as a sniper or heavy?

Noob here, hammer seems fun but idk between fencing, block, balanced - does block just dodge instead and have higher base damage? What ranged weapons are worth using? Mixed results with multimelta on heavy and feel like if I'm not playing tactical nobody does ranged damage. Also what does assault do if surrounded and no jumps left? Die? Any noob tips appreciated so I don't shit it up forever

Block's parry window is early, it doesn't actually parry for a gunstrike but two perfect guards in a row gets you adrenaline rush, that gives you a massive damage bonus, 1 armor pip, and 30% damage reduction the next time you melee
Block is a lot of effort to relearn for but has a fuckload more damage potential. Ideally you go block hammer or heroic hammer, balanced can work but the ability for an aftershock to just 1 shot majoris without any other lead up is powerful. Never go plain fencing hammer or fist, the bonus speed never matters for charged attacks and ideally you want to trade with them in the first place instead of parrying every little thing

You either get the Heroic hammer if you like fencing for the shock aura shenanigans or you play block hammer for the stupid high burst damage
>>551960976 did a good job of explaining how block works but is a little wrong, how it actually works is each stack of perfect block gives you ranged damage resistance and a bonus damage boost upon your next melee attack for 3 seconds, and if you have two stacks of perfect block it also creates a big explosion that staggers enemies
What really sets block apart is the freedom it gives you in where to apply your damage
With fencing you parry and you can only gunstrike the enemy that attacked you, you have no choice where to apply your damage
With block you can get two block stacks from a Warrior, hold them, then turn around and put the burst damage into a Ravener or Lictor or something

What any class in this game does, parry/block/shoot until your enemies are dead. Being surrounded isn’t really a bad thing in this game as long as you know what you’re doing.

Because block used to be complete fucking garbage, actually worthless. On release it was purely just blocking damage like a failed parry but without the block stun while fencing was often no stat downside but with the best parry window. Saber had to buff it 2 or 3 separate times to get it to where it is now and then rebalanced all melee weapons to have a more standard stat spread across types.

Thanks guys, I'll see what I can do. I always feel like when a guy is on me I just have to play sekiro and parry until it lets me shoot him in the face, but maybe if I run block I'll have a more intuitive time finding when to dodge, swing back or adjust. When I was playing assault I'd usually go for a short heavy on warriors with the hammer, and I find whenever I chain more than two light attacks with basically any melee weapon I start getting wrecked. I keep thinking about one death I had where there were three of the chaos flesh charging guys and they just juked and wombo'd my ass while I was fucking up all the parries...

Block will help you learn enemy attack timings a lot better because it’s tighter, yeah. It’ll help you learn perfect dodge timings too because they’re pretty similar. One other thing I forgot to mention is that during the 3-second Adrenaline Surge window you get after you attack with 2 stacks of perfect block, all your melee attacks will stagger-lock enemies with a few exceptions like the Carnifex. Even the Hive Tyrant and Helbrute can be staggerlocked during your Adrenaline Surge. So with block you truly get to finally have ‘your turn’ to attack once you land two perfect blocks.

Spawn unironically have so many varied, gay, and retarded combos that I would suggest just playing fencing vs Chaos unless you REALLY want to learn every single Spawn attack timing. Everyone hates those things. If you really care though, Sturm Magnusson (now I just sound like a shill) has another YT vid showcasing every Spawn variant, its moves, and the block timings for it.

Issue is that there's 3 different kinds of chaos spawn and each have their own timings
>feral claws are quick timings
>tentacles are normal but with disjointed hitboxes
>crab claws are delayed timings
but when 4 of them all aggro at once they start overlapping in weird ways impossible to safely mitigate, even worse if you're standing next to your allies so you're catching collateral hits too. At a certain point with spawn you either gib/stagger them on demand or you learn to back the hell up and let them play themselves out.
