He has a personality, it just isn't that. Sonic's actual, Japanese personality is completely unique compared to the various western versions that generally just turn him into the typical teen hero. There's almost no other characters like this. Classic Sonic exists because western millennials were incredibly vocal from the 2000s to 2017, as they did not like Modern Sonic nor the series direction once it went into 3D with SA1. So Classic Sonic was born in order to appease them and to justify a timeline split so Classic Sonic can have more games with no timeline restrictions. However, Superstars poor reception and initial sales caused Sega to stop pandering towards these millennials. As the Classic timeline was retconned back into the main timeline and Sega stating that they want to get away from nostalgia nowadays.
