He got a prescript at some point that explicitly stated nothing more than "Create the ultimate sword out of a child" with a modifier condition like "from a woman born under the perfect arrangement of star and moon" or some shit, and every single thing in this canto has been a result of his own immaculate manipulation to that end. The other Nursefathers are probably Finger heads who have been given promises of some incomprehensibly grand nature, or maybe via mirror bullshit they've seen a confirmation/result that the end of all of this is basically so profoundly magnificent that it justifies unifying and pouring their hearts and souls into the nurturing of whatever Ryoshu is supposed to become. He's acting creepy and "off", but I think he's honestly just excited because he's getting very, very close to whatever that final result is supposed to become, and funnily enough it's probably less that he cares about Ryoshu's nurturing or whatever goal he's been tying things together, but simply because that ridiculous prescript can eventually be behind him and he can be free to be himself again. Hell, Mathias probably is just excited to see Ryoshu out of pure joy for his own collaborative daughter project coming home, and I'd even wager most of the attempts by the others to "fight" her are just part of that "review" he briefly mentioned before vanishing into thin air.

The story would read better if Dante’s narration was trimmed. Usually it’s restating what just happened or what the characters had said. You could scrap 2/3rds of his internal monologue and lose no unique insights into his character.
