Some people dont know how bad some games really are. Even XIII can be considered a gem compared to kusoge like Agarest Wars. Final Fantasy has some of the most divisive and volatile fanbase I've ever seen in a fandom.

to be fair the pc port for rebirth is pretty ass. even with the performance issues it was a very fun experience for me. i don't have much attachment or nostalgia for 7 but as a jrpg i was blown away by the sheer amount of content and unique music / assets everywhere crammed into the game. it was really refreshing to see a modern jrpg release to be that crammed full of so much unique content and actually feel finished. yeah sure it had all the crap open world padding but outside of that there was a bunch of unique story areas and it felt like a full adventure despite being the mid point of a trilogy. the second game in trilogies is usually the worst but i found the game to be waaaaay better than the first remake. i recently finished 16 and i did not walk away with the same feelings I did after finishing rebirth. i'm not a rebirth shill but i'm a fan of jrpgs that plays basically everything out there and I was genuinely impressed with how rebirth turned out given squenix's track record for final fantasy.

I'm not looking forward to spending 50 hours playing what should be a 10 hour segment of Final Fantasy VII. I'm still going to play it. I might even find the experience palatable, because if there's one thing that's fun in VIIR, it's the combat. But I am not at all "looking forward" to it. Then there's the secondary issue of how Part 3 existing is going to affect /ffg/. We are currently still experiencing the worst story arc in all of /ffg/ history, and it began as the result of Square Enix failing to ever announce any sort of sales celebrations for Rebirth. It was pretty funny to watch, really. Shitposting about XVI's sales all the way up to release, shitposting more about XVI's sales even after Rebirth's release... and then when the 6 day mark hit, they started making excuses, then when the 14 day mark hit and no sales celebrations had been announced, that's when all hell started to break loose, and then the detective turned this thread into namefag theatre, starring Jimbo. No matter what happens, it's going to be bad here. Whether it sells well or not.
I saw someone not being interested in Part 3 and I somehow felt deep in my bones the Remake Project was under attack.

But at the same time, I have a feeling that the "bulk" of the game is going to be significantly different in Part 3. It's not going to be mini map collect a thon on foot through areas, it's going to be majorly focused on the Highwind. So whatever that looks like, it's going to be a different experience than Rebirth. So I don't think you'll have to worry so much about "scanning rocks" to uncover stuff again. But who knows, they could use the same mechanic elsewhere in the Highwind, and you could end up equally hating flying the Highwind around. To each his ownPersonally I'm really, really looking forward to piloting the Highwind, and exploring the interior. I can't wait to see the finale, because I love these games. :)
