This season has taught me that Ergo Sum is still the best sword in the game. I don't even have the catalyst because Master Excision is pure cancer. That said I also now realize there are no good legendary heavy weapons in the game. They all feel like specials with worse ammo economy. What is even going on with the weapons balance these days? Everything is so special focused because primaries are shit and heavies are weak.

It just hit me, we used to get a season with an expansion that sorta opened up exactly the contents of an expansion and things to do and play. You finish shitfall stuff, you do your exotic quests, you got all the bullshit week to week of Defiance to fart around in; not amazing but it was still tangibly something going on that ate up a good deal of your play time if you were in it. Now? it's like ok you do your story, you get your 1 and only 1 exotic, fart around with a pretty ordinary season like activity because it's now only activity or location, never both fully and you're supposed to slap your gut and say how good it all was. No change on price point and it's just literally less content. You get some dickriding asshole saying how "uh nobody wants to play old content, we don't need old raids to have any relevancy on the new system, no armor sets", only for them to complain why nobody is raiding new stuff nor wanting to run Ketchclash with them. This entire thing is probably as scammy as it's ever been.

Having a few hunters with team invis and tether, a few consecration titans for champion damage and boss damage, a few stasis warlocks for cc. The contract objectives funneled people into the same 3 spots, the maps sightlines and layout made it too easy for people to bee-line to distant gunfire and 3rd-party into fights, and a lot of the actually interesting interiors like Quarantine or the tunnels under Bio-research were essentially never used. Plus I think the only random event that could spawn on it at the time was the big Lockdown ship, which only happened like 1/4 of the time. My biggest feedback to them was to just make every map as active and fleshed-out as Outpost. And it seems like they may be doing that since I noticed in their recent shorts and vidoc some new enemy types, boss patrols, and contract objectives on the older maps.

Then came outlier protection where if you have inactivity in any crucible or you’re just not amazing, you enter a bubble wrap zone where it’s people crashing into one another like it’s Roblox. I almost thought it was bots, but it’s just shitters. Very easy to leave but an experience none the less. Now with pops bad, the game can just throw you anybody even if they’re in Pune and you’re in the US.

Stuff that already performs well or carried damage perk it’s like hitting a diminishing return math threshold where you’re kinda breaking even at what is possible without it. Not to say there aren’t any setups when it could feel good at like 160+Weapons, it’s just you’re better off always ensuring your health is high, super, and then grenade,melee , class depending what else you’re trying to do on your build.

This portal system is so confusing. I got from 300 - 400 by doing renegades campaign and then stuff in portal. I am now a little bit above 400. I ran a fireteam ops and a solo ops (both of then with B+ and higher) and all I got was loot at or below 400. What the heck am I supposed to do after reaching 400? Yes it is entirely possible to basically have multiple slots a little above that entry Light Level requirement and on paper look like you should be able to enter, but it really does come down to all slots. These threshold situations I think happen when you first enter Grandmaster and Ultimate, but admittedly I'm going off memory when I did this in EoF and was confused why I couldn't get levels.

I'm thoroughly confused as to why they veered away from refreshes of old loot in the same year that they added "new gear" and armor sets that you actually want. Like there are 9 raids and 10 dungeons with lite-sunset gear right now. When they announced the Portal, I thought it was just going to be a prettier, less obscure LFG tool (fireteam finder), basically a place where you queue up without any fuss to do ALL the game content (strikes, dungeons, raids, solo stuff, etc.). And if you end up in a group that can't progress, no big deal, you say goodbye and queue up again. I'm a naive and benevolent guy, so I never imagined for a moment that the Portal was designed to be as anti-player/human as possible in order to squeeze every last penny and soul out of your pocket.
