Full disclosure, I suck at Mega Man but it doesn't actually even have bearing on my question.I played Mega Man 11 a week ago and I'm seeing still up to this point there is no button/quick menu-mapping to preferred abilities and the quick-select wheel is shitty and unreliable in the moment (also doesn't stop time despite the default, traditional mandatory even, way to swap powers being to literally pause the game). So, what, are there fans that would defend this as a tradition or something? -because it seems like incompetence and lack of innovation to me after 21 years.-and it's not just the that either, the shop and menus are bafflingly bad too. For what reason are you limited to how many spike/pit saves you can have even on the easiest difficulty? Why can you not buy more than one item at a time and not hear Roll's voice line every single time? Why do menu UI decisions in general suck? I go into a Mega Man game expecting a played-out formula but it's as if it refuses to be anything but stale.

Played Powered Up more using Cutman, Fireman and started a Roll playthrough. Cutman wall kick seems like it would be strong but it has a fixed direction and jump so it's not like MMX at all. Fireman on other is completely busted, he can keep 3 Fire Storms on the screen at the same time and constantly stay with the "shield" active if you mash. Roll Swing actually does a lot of damage to regular enemies and basically counters Joes and Shield Attackers since it pierces through the shield but the swing animation is pretty slow so you need to attack before closing into the enemy to avoid hits. I think I'll start the challenges to unlock Protoman.

I had an idea yesterday for how to handle the scale differences between Mega Man and your average fighting game character in MUGEN. The initial idea was 'include a second CNS with everything modified to work at a 2x scale' but that felt a little... Clunky? Instead, I rigged everything possible to accept a multiplier based on the xscale and yscale constants. Mega Man can now be resized with no need for adjustments. Next thing to do is to add the two weapon icons for the Leaf Shield and Rolling Cutter because I doodled them. But rather than show those off, have a beta walk cycle.
