Yesterday I mentioned I was having difficulty fighting Lokhir Fellheart as The Golden Order. I have an army with 9 wizards (I moved 2 to my second army). Sayl the Faithless is some dipshit coming south. I met him with my army with its crossbowmen, halberdiers and 1 hellstorm rocket battery I've had since the start of the game. In 1 turn they will destroy my provincial capital at Shang Wu before moving south to Temple of Elemental Winds. I have to stop them here.Yesterday someone told me I should be in channeling stance, so I switched to channeling stance. My power reserves for this fight are 20 + 275. When I start the battle I get 20 + 0 and it says "Recharge Blocked". Channeling stance was 100% worthless.This dipshit deletes my entire army from across the map without ever moving with lightning bolts. He literally has infinite range. The only thing in range is my hellstorm rocket battery but it's deleted first. I can't get my army in range before it's destroyed, he casts lightning bolt every 5 seconds. If I rush his lord with all 9 mages I can't even break through his barrier before they're all killed. I don't have the winds of magic to prevent this. I have my second army fighting Lokhir Fellheart in the east and Balthazar Gelt's army at this fight. I'm earning 1334 gold per turn, it's turn 57. If I recruit another army (for example at Shang-wu) my income drops to 931.Not only do I not know how to win this battle, I don't even know how to win this war.

The bottom right icon in battle has an hourglass with reserves on top which trickles into the bottom, which is your magic that's available to cast.Your build up of reserves on the campaign map determines how much magic you'll have in battle. Every province has varying levels of winds blowing through them you can see when you hold your mouse still over terrain, ranging from +10/turn, which adds 10 magic/turn to your reserves, or -10/turn, which drains 10 magic out of your reserves every turn. I tried out something different and I vassalized Sayl instead of the shit faction you normally vassalize when occupying the fortress. I eneded my liege status with them and declared war as soon as I could so Sayl could have his regions. I did have to offer him a single Dark fortress for his loyalty but it felt worth it ngl. The only problem with him is that he builds more armies than he can afford so I have to gift him gold quite often so he doesn't get attrition on all his armies.Lately I have been trying to focus more on just having fun with my campaign, instead of getting all autistic about playing optimally

Astragoth and Draz feel like you really build up the Darklands into a defensive chorf haven (though Drazoath feels like more of a slugfest until you get there), while Zhatan lets you go wild across Cathay and get ludicrous amounts of resources/armaments with less resistance, once you get through the gates and krump the various LL's. All in all, I think Astragoth has the comfiest campaign, but early game you have to stomp Grimgor, and Katarin can be a tremendous (and annoying) threat lategame.

Beat the ogres, take saber mountain, and go east, try and sell a settlement to either Tamurkhan or Kholek depending on who's winning (probably Tamurkhan), go south to krump Grimgor being mindful of when his Waagh is up. If you don't take him out he'll just declare war to krump a caravan and then invade your lands, so it's basically inevitable. If you can keep Greasus pacified or take the rest of the mountains is up to you. In the world's edge mountains you've either got Azhag or Dawi who will want to fight you, Silver Pinnacle can be a great chokepoint so either take it and hold it or let the vamps be a roadblock for them for a while. To the North Arbaal has generally just been cool, but Karak Vlag and Karak Dum can be tasty major settlements if you've got the ability to take them. But like I said, in the late game like turn 100 or so Katarin will generally snowball (hurr hurr) and Kislev can be a total nightmare to fight at that stage, especially if your locked units are already busy elsewhere, hobgobbos/laborers cannot deal with getting slowed and shot to death and then fighting in melee against competent hybrid units, and warsleds + bears can rush your artillery mercilessly.

Akin to, say, Tomb Scorpions they seem to take a lot less damage than their stats would suggest. The shielded ones are surprisingly the worst though: the extra AI/AL from dual axes/great weapons is great to patch up their MA which is on the lower end. They are great and more than viable, its just that Blunderbusses are even more effective and ranged combat doesnt risk friendly fire from artillery. I'd still have at least one stack with Bull Centaurs just to mix things up.
