I enjoyed the SRPG mechanics and the concept of permadeath too, since i handnt played many other games like that before and it seemed interesting. I started with Binding Blade (easiest for 9yo DeltheaAnon to emulate), I liked it, but after playing the rest of them, I found SOV to be my favorite.

With my time done with the game now, I can say it was fun. Story was good though I couldn't keep up with all the names and political connections, but at least they had shit going on. The units were varied and strong compared to VS1 and were less cookie cutter; for example, having a playable dragon, two peg knights that could dismount, one of them being able to use heal staves dismounted, and a dracoknight healer is quite good. Also lots of people having their own PRF weapon with enough uses makes it feel nice.I do want to say, Kaga seems to be aware of his love of big maps and long chapters and I can see how he tries to remedy this in the sequel. My problem is instead of addressing these issues, he simplifies them, which I do not agree with. The first 10~ chapters are definitely easier with less things going on than the first game, but they can still be quite long. Or with pic related map, why the FUCK does he want me to go around this path on difficult terrain? The terrain already makes it so that cavs can't easily pass through them but the winding path adds more time wasted. Sure this makes the enemies on that path more dangerous but the tight quarters makes it tedious to move through and makes a lot of dead time after dealing with the enemies.Well, I guess I'll ironman vs1 now.
