The issue is Arc Raiders is pretty slow and low TTK shooter. You can't really outplay someone who does significantly more DPS than you are when your movement limited by stamina bar and it takes a hot minute to reset shield and pop some bandages. Most fights in Arc Raiders is just a standoff DPS race that's why all weapons are kind of close to each other.

It's basically a PvP thing. Guns are comparatively rare loot from anything other than the corpses of other players (and they're probably running stitchers so why do you care?). Sec lockers have been nerfed into the fucking ground. There's no reason to fight the queen/matriach since the only thing that they're good for is making energy weapons which are only good for fighting queens/matriarchs, and you're probably going to risk losing the energy gun to some nigger with a stitcher.

Getting shot and killed is the fastest way to get back into the Chungus safe zone. If you want to drop your aggro as fast as possible, go into Stella completely naked and just run around looking for a blueprint to put in your safe slot. I've never considered it a bad weapon but sub-par. The medium ammo guns in general just aren't very great. They have similar TTK on both Arc and players as light/heavy guns respectively so they don't really serve a purpose.

I will. I don't really care about upgrading materials since you can do the entire gameplay loop with just the basic benches and weapons. Plus, the stores sell decent enough attachments, the best guns save for the venator. Why not. I want every skill in the skill tree from level 1 immediately or until the game shuts down.

Plus think about it. Now is the time to do expeditions. When they add more augs, guns and equipment, it will get harder and harder to justify doing the expedition. So its actually better to do the expedition now when there are not so many blueprints in the game versus laters when there are over 700 blueprints and it being incredibly hard to get the one you want.

Just tried a heavy shield for the first time and it did nothing against the extract camp nigger who three pieced me with a shotgun, so I don't think I'm going to bother with heavy again. At least I managed to make space for the first guy he downed to extract in time.

I've played in both tests, the server slam, and completed the expedition on two accounts. It's fun but it is getting a little boring. I think PVE could be fun but the whole "Spend 20 minutes hiding in a bunker shooting one ARC over and over" is just a horrible way to handle it. Especially since there's nothing stopping anyone from just shooting you in the back during/after.

I don't think a PVE mode should be added but I do think it should be addressed; otherwise I think the game will just slowly become people treating rounds like deathmatch because there's not enough to do.

Heavy Shield has a few breakpoints that are different by like 1 extra bullet (mainly with automatic guns like the stitcher) from Medium but for the most part it doesn't change anything in a fight aside from making you significantly slower. 3 Il Toro shots at close range will kill you on either one, meanwhile on Light it only takes 2.
tldr Heavy Shields are dogshit but Mediums are worth it.

Does the entire genre not have a problem incentivizing in bringing gear to do objectives like killing big arc? My last two games have been the exact same experience. Brought in lots of gear, lots of expensive shit, to go arc hunting because I want the components to salvage for parts or to sell.

What happens? I am killed within 2 minutes by some KOS fag in the first game (dude spawned like 100m from where I spawned, very epic game), in the second game, as soon as I killed the first bastion I am shot in the back and die within 2 seconds because you die so fast there's no way to retaliate. Why should I even bother trying to do this shit? What's the point? There isn't a point. Your actual best option is to do exactly what these fags did. Shoot someone in the back and steal all their shit. You just die so fast in this game no matter if you try because you are a sitting duck when you do anything in the game like try to loot or focus other enemies. And I did try to fight back both times, I really did. But there just isn't much you can do when your shield is blasted off within the first .4 seconds of a fight, you're at such a disadvantage you're already dead.

Every game in this genre incentivizes playing in a squad, even moreso elsewhere because TTK and getting ambushed is even more severe since there are no "friendlies" outside of matchmaking with randoms.
In other games people will bring in big gear to do map objectives like fighting area bosses but more often or not it's to create an overwhelming edge in PVP on both the damage and defense sides of it. High tier grenades, high tier buff injectors, high tier healing items, high tier body and head armor, high tier rigs and backpacks for large inventory space, high tier low/no recoil weapons setups and the highest premium tier of ammo to ensure that you can shoot through the top tier armor your enemies might be wearing.

me and my squad decided to try and figure out if trio chungartha is real and it is but its more of a uneasy truce style servers instead of kos. lots of greeting and moving along while keeping an eye on eachother til neither could see eachother anymore. only fight we ended up getting into after 6 games was a team rolling up on the breach room in blue gate reception that we also arrived late to (other team left already that did loot it) so areas of high value are still contested a bit.

I've had someone spawn behind me when I was barely 10m out of one of the bunkers and went back into dodge a rocketeer rocket.
Generally if you're going for a kill to a Bastion/Bombadier within the first 15 minutes of the match you should pack smoke since it makes it far harder for a rat to kill you with guns. They can still lob grenades ofc but it's way rarer in less agressive lobbies. But overall the less you bring that isn't ordinace to kill the specific enemy, the better. Personally, while I've gotten all my benches, the best time to try and farm bastions/bombadiers is during matriach event, taking out one of the ones that spawns as backup for the matchriach, looting it and ducking out since most rats/loot goblins are going to be focused on the matriach loot itself, and if you're lucky someone else will knock out the miniboss ARC to clear space anyway.
But yes only reason to bring anything better than greys is pretty much either extra safe pockets or killing ARC, which makes it purely beneficial for PvP focused people to loot you. The downside of PvP is that in order to reliably get those parts you pretty much just have to camp the thing for the entire game on the off-chance that someone else goes to kill it.

But in this game none of your gear really matters at all. The "worst" weapon in the game, stitcher, can and does kill people with even the best shields and best augments extremely quickly. The TTK from a light shield to a heavy shield is so negligible that its pretty much a nonfactor. The only real factor that matters if the opening gambit. Did you shoot someone first, and break their shield quickly? 99/100 times the answer is yes, which makes you the winner. The person getting shot first and losing their shield first is now so close to being dead that they truly have almost zero options at all. They can't shoot back because they factually can not out DPS a person with full shield. They can run because they will easily be shot in the back. Taking cover works but you become a sitting duck for them to advance on you and take you out; healing takes nearly 10x longer than it does for the pusher to just shoot you a few more times.

Even if you aren't using a stitcher, farro pops shields so easily you can follow up with any other weapon just as easily too. Kettle is literally broken because of fast click/macro bullshit. Shotguns do their job extremely well up close.

You just die so fucking fast it's silly. I see no point in bringing hullcrackers, legendary gear I have, etc, because if I'm not the nigger KOSing someone else, they're doing it to me and I'm losing everything. Especially when a free kit costs literally ZERO and you have everything to gain in terms of level 4 guns/etc because of how easy it is to kill anyone with the most dog shit weapons.

I don't disagree with most of what you've said because a lot of the problem with this compared to other stuff (Tarkov, AB:I) is that the gearing is a lot less in depth. There are levels from 1-6 in armor rating in those games between plates and helmet and if your armor is a higher rating than the level of ammo that is hitting you chances are it will be stopped or deflected dealing minimum damage unless they hit you in an unarmored spot or they've done enough damage to successfully destroy your helmet/faceplate/bodyplate at which point the bullets penetrate and start doing proper damage. Conversely if your ammo is 1-2 levels higher than the enemy body armor you will run bullets through them like they are a water balloon.
Lower tier weapons are balanced by the fact that they just don't have high armor penetration ammo available, and the higher tier weapons, ammo and armor are balanced by the fact that the player market prices dictate them being at ungodly prices. A full magazine of the highest armor penetration ammo in a particular caliber will probably cost more than your entire gun+attachments+the rest of your kit sans armor/helmet, hell probably them too. This causes an inverse problem where it becomes feast or famine, the players who win keep stacking money that allows them to easily risk going out in millions of dollars worth of gear that turns them into unkillable juggernauts to anyone aside from other unkillable juggernauts. It's possible to kill them but it is extremely onesided.
As for your complaint about TTK and fights favoring the one who shoots first, that is what is remedied by playing in a squad+good positioning+good awareness+your teammates covering your ass when you get got at the start of the fight.

DBD gives you 30 extra downed health
TC gives you 30% damage resistance when downed
Both make your effective HP almost double from base at ~185.

I wish you could set yourself to queue down. Into lower karma lobbies, so I don't have to shoot random friendlies to play outside of a hugbox.

I don't think it's necessarily over given that arc's gameplay is so shallow but bungie would have to really outdo themselves in terms of gameplay to make marathon a hit and i doubt that they're even capable of that any more especially after seeing what the game is like after that closed beta or whatever. It's not going to be concord 2 and it's not going to be dead on arrival but it's definitely not the next big thing. I think it's going to have like, 10k players ish and last two or three years.

or they are just silently tweaking rates all the time, because I got like 6 yesterday and usually I'm unlucky, but at the same time, i actually found unlooted containers and it seems like the meta right now is to

I actually think one of the biggest problems with it is the name "Marathon". It simply doesn't work for search engines because it's too generic.
I'm a fan of the artstyle personally, it's really something new, and the shooting feels good just like Arc Raiders, that's the most important part in a shooter... the rooty tooty shooty.

I was iffy on Arc Raiders before I played it, all the threads seemed to be shills but then I bought the game and was hooked after like 3 matches and have not played anything else since. I'm hopeful for Marathon but it's going to be hard.

Tis' not a sprinkle, there needs to be more incentive to do PvE, but the carebear lobbies are also retarded.
In general the game needs less of the polar opposites, more quality (aka not ganking) PvP in solos, more PvE in duos/trios.
Fucked gear balance is a good starting point that can fix both extremes - give solos more longevity in combat and chance for retaliation/comebacks as well as make duos/trios focus more on PvE for gear parts.

I haven't watched him since I was teenager big into CS but doesn't he play like every new FPS? It’s kinda corny I’ll admit but I had this realization recently.

I really love this game because it gives me an avenue to interact with people in what feels like a normal way. While this thread doesn’t sell the case very well, I’m very “normal” presenting in the real world, but as an autistic person struggle immensely interpersonally and internally. Those struggles are entirely invisible because I have a career and a wife and a house. On paper I’m about as average and normal as they come.

Being autistic however, is in many ways like being an alien in disguise at times. You look human but know and feel that somehow everyone has a sense you’re not quite fully the same. You act the part but everyone can tell you’re working from a script. It’s exhausting and difficult most of the time. That said, I’m not trying to garner sympathy, it’s just the reality of things and I’m okay with that.

But launching the game and going topside, I can interact with people and make friends easily for a brief time. I can help people and offer tips and advice and they appreciate it, instead of thinking I’m condescending to or talking down to them. Nothing gives me more joy in this game then dropping a blueprint or weapon dupe for someone and them being psyched. I so rarely get to experience that in person, because my autistic traits get immediately clocked and turn people off before I’ve had the chance to say anything at all.

But topside, I’m just a guy in a helmet. And for awhile I get to feel like a normal person. And I really, really appreciate that.

Second hand information but I read three deep breaths is ONLY activated by melee attacks - so when you melee to run out of stamina, it recharges a bit faster.

I went top-side naked to farm loot, didn't like my spawn, and got shottied hanging out next to someone waiting to extract after 6 games of friendlies. Pretty surprising. Glad they didn't get shit though.

Which ones? I've found that they're all useful, except for the legendary ones anyway - I only used the equalizer/ and jupiter once and then got killed, never to bother farming queens again.
Arpeggio, Il Toro, Venator are all good at level 4.
Hairpin is hilarious at level 4. Probably the most useless but it does 30 damage per hit, and bullets fly fast so you can just fuck with people all day before they find out where you are.
The others are all fine for their intended purposes but some need to be tweaked a bit:
Stitcher needs a nerf
Bettina needs a buff
Tempest needs to be more accurate, or stay the same while the stitcher gets a big nerf.
Like, those youtube videos going "WOWW STITCHER IS THE BEST" are at the stitchers optimal range (which is honestly a bit too far). Stitcher will still get deleted by a bobcat or a vulcano up close like in Stella.
I think all the maps actually have decent areas for each gun, you just need to suit your fighting position best to your gun.
