I think the reason I hated the ending the most (aside from how it refused to address long standing plot threads) is the fact that there is no personal payoff for its main character. Like when Shirou goes through UBW, he resolves to stick to his ideals and to never regret it, and in HF he realizes that there are things more precious to him than those. But what does Guda get? Absolutely nothing. They don't come off from having saved humanity twice over as a more developed, mature person, they just regress to how they were before the story had even started and the ending frames it as a "reward". I get that Guda is ultimately just a stand in for the player character, but are you really telling me that after 10 fucking years, OC2 is the best they're gonna get in terms of developing their character?
