Man that was a long fucking game.So first impressions off the cuff are that I think it has been the most enjoyable Kiseki game I have played since Azure. Not sure how it matches up to Sky and Crossbell just yet but I know I did enjoy it more than the CS saga. But it still has issues. The balance between talking and fighting is very off. I remember reading this has more text than anything prior and now I know why. All the 4SPG dialogue, the fucking "foodie" dialogue and general structure of morning sidequests, connect events, afternoon required quest, and night time connect events and 4SPGs both inflated the word count and run time. Still, it was very enjoyable. I don't understand the complaints about Edith or the new locations; I don't think Kiseki has amazing level designs or vistas for that matter, but Basel and Oracion are standout cities to me. Beautiful places. Also, damn the Grendel theme was made by Singa! I liked it quite a bit. I think it is the first Singa song I really fuck with. I watched some Horizon reviews and am surprised it has taken this long for people to have an issue with the "Trails formula." I think that ever since CS2, this quasi-bracer shit has been outgrown. It is disheartening to hear the prologue seems high intensity but then shit slows down because hey guys, gotta do them 4SPGs. But well, guess I'll see how I feel about once I reach Horizon. I think this is at least an 8/10 game and the closest Kiseki has ever come to doing a one and done game.

The Calvard cast was good. So far I think Bergard and Quatre were the weakest characters introduced. It also did not help that out of all the VAs I think Quatre's was the worst and it stood out; his voice would crack every other time he spoke. Everyone else was pretty good. Amalee was excellent as Agnes, the guy that was Van was solid, I felt that Judith had a voice that clashed with her appearance but came around to it, and the people that played Feri and Risette nailed their roles. The dude that played Kincaid was also really good, as well as Elaine. Melchior was easily the best performed character and Dantes' VA has a voice of gold. I am planning to play DB2 in Japanese just to see how the VAs stack up. I also find it really fucking funny how heated Van vs Rean people are when they are characters with similar baggage and attitudes, just different personas. I do think I like Van more, he was way more animated than Rean, and that to me is just Falcom tweaking a character for the better. It also helps that thanks to his nosy assistants we do get some questions answered about him and learn his big secret, whereas it was just bits and pieces with Rean until CS3. But both guys are huge softies with no sense of self-worth. But I like that Van's party calls him out and teases him whereas with Rean it was played way too straight, to his detriment I felt.I also feel Reanasis...Van would make a very cute girl haha. Seeing her drop the cool act around sweets would be very cute to see. Dunno that giving him a pussy would make him a better character, but I see Vanessa's appeal.

I thought SMT series was hard… but Trails 1st is something else lol Never played the original release of trails, but after seeing some gameplay from the remaster version, I am now enjoying… decided to go on hard mode since it’s not my first “hard” RPG after nocturne and other SMT entries, and oh my…. This game is brutally hard. Everything shreds 1/3 from your HP, escort missions are hard since the companions die easily, bosses have a TON of HP, and so on. Again, the game is very very good, and I like this kind of challenge, but wasn’t expecting this kind of hard lol
