When people perform mental gymnastics to explain plot holes, retcons, or poor writing because they believe whole heartedly the writing can't be wrong. Reminds of the Dragon ball fandom. Now recently they want to combine everything to one, so now we get mostly bland nothing burger advise stories that won't interfere with story. The funniest "un doing" of an inconsistency was Mori who made friends with the commander and told siren otherwise. Mori in the latest campaign story validates that she knows the commander and pretty much confirms that she lied to Siren about her entire sad backstory and Siren being the first person to treat her with kindness.

I'm starting to notice a pattern now. Whenever they want to do important story, they just do whatever they want without giving a fuck about the schizos. Characters dying, male characters getting to be cool, fanservice being toned down, commander not being present, Andersen saying he loves Lilith, Mori existing, etc.Then right before the schizos are fed up and about to quit the game, out comes the clingy girl with the gigantic knockers who wants solely to be your wife and sucks you off in the bond story. And then everyone comes back, the game is saved and good again, they say "see shiftup, that's how you do a story" because somehow that's enough to satisfy them, and then they decide to stick around.Or at least that's how it is in theory. I've certainly seen and facepalmed at posts expressing that exact sentiment. Whether it's actually working to maintain the playerbase, I have no idea. But it's a common strategy with gacha games and seems to be keeping BD2 and Snowbreak alive all these years later, so I'm guessing the same is true for Nikke. You only need a few idiots spending money to keep the game profitable, I guess.
