To any new friends primer weapons are for 9999 content specifically the heavy armor special enemies not the average trash mob. Since they have a LOT of armor and the corrosive and possibly viral and heat priming to strip that armor and if viral too to increase hp based damage makes them much easier to kill.

So if you had a full stack of merciless and 5 status with CO on a regular weapon, youd have a modded damage bonus of 360% + 400%. but with mutli, you separate it and multiply the other bonuses by it. So instead of 360 + 400, you get 360 x 4. The only reason why I recommend having one consistent source of damage is because those galv status mods are used to supplement base damage before your arcane activates. But on a multi weapon and in isolation it does nothing at all because its multiplying nothing. but thats just up to your preference. you could just keep your merciless combo up at all times
