Endfield should've been an XCOM clone and it would've been a quick success. Instead it chose to struggle as another mediocre ARPG in an already saturated market. At that point, over time, yeah the general had more serious fans and some of them read parts of the lore as HG added more story in. These were definitely the minority though, as most people primarily played Arknights for the gameplay and their wife, and Arknights Years 1-2 still didn't have much content. Also, generally the story had a bad rap for being wordy and boring anyway.Over the years, it got better. Today people on akg generally read their wife's or favorite's story. A decent amount of akg will read the main chapters at least (Though many skipped Victoria since it was very bad). Some of the diehard lorefags got etlitist over other games, but nothing too bad. You'll actually see gameplay elitism by far on akg ("our game has gameplay and difficulty, other games don't").
