Endfield should've been an XCOM clone and it would've been a quick success. Instead it chose to struggle as another mediocre ARPG in an already saturated market. I hope they take the player goodwill from the existing Arknights franchise which will surely keep the game afloat at least early on, to improve the gameplay elements least the combat becomes stale one week in.

At that point, over time, yeah the general had more serious fans and some of them read parts of the lore as HG added more story in. These were definitely the minority though, as most people primarily played Arknights for the gameplay and their wife, and Arknights Years 1-2 still didn't have much content. Also, generally the story had a bad rap for being wordy and boring anyway.Over the years, it got better. Today people on akg generally read their wife's or favorite's story. A decent amount of akg will read the main chapters at least (Though many skipped Victoria since it was very bad). Some of the diehard lorefags got etlitist over other games, but nothing too bad. These games are carefully curated, you're allotted a certain number of things based on your tier, f2p, low spender, whale etc. There is always a tradeoff. In a game like GI as f2p you will devote the vast majority of resources to characters so the ratio is skewed. Here the weapons you get are directly proportional to how much you roll for characters so, naturally, it'll be skewed in favor of fewer characters. Is that a good tradeoff? I don't know yet.

The median number of pulls for characters in wuwa (as an example) and endfield is nearly identical if you don't account for any of the bonus pull shenanigans. This is not accounting for the fact that you split your pulls between character and weapon in wuwa (et al.), making the value of pulls 2/3 or 1/2 of what they are in Endfield so you in effect end up spending 50 to 100% more pulls on each character if you go for the weapons.
