Im unable to tolerant how long im going to be suck at something because every week my parents would ask me "do you make money out of this yet?" Instead of just saying "hey, nice work". This been going on ever since 2016. Im on freeze mode now and refuse to learn anything or study anything anymore. I have work experience. I have applied to 250 jobs that is a mix of IT and software. Im ok with studying, im ok with making stuff, what i dont like is not seeing anything tangible each day or each week, and after the month ends i rarely say that im proud with what im doing, because nothing gets done! I always get ridiculed by my parents for trying ANYTHING and they keep saying "this better help you land a job". It's pointless. It's tough. Im turning 25 in May 2026 and i genuinely have no interest in things. I have burned bridges in so many communities from art, gaming, and game development. I no longer have wordly attachments bro.

>>554154029The only bridge you can't burn and the only one that really matters is the one with God. And through that all others can be mended and new bridges made and doors opened.
>>554154193It doesn't work like that, parents say things intended to motivate but in reality they've usually given up and decided "this is just how my son/daughter is" and they aren't actually disappointed or even really care anymore but they feel like they have to say motivational things like "well hopefully this leads to a job". They don't really care as long as you're not stealing cars and overdosing on drugs. Because every parent knows at least one parent nearby whose kids are doing that.
>>554154029> im ok with making stuff, what i dont like is not seeing anything tangible each day or each week, and after the month ends i rarely say that im proud with what im doing, because nothing gets done! nothing gets done eh? Alright so after sleeping on it, I'll be willing to walk back that "exclusive trailer" requirement because everyone already edits trailers for the show anyways. However, pre-existing trailers must be within two months from the show date. (So if your game releases in March you can just send us your trailer as long as it meets the other requirements).
See there's a reason bokube talks like someone who isn't concerned with being cancelled or getting review bombed. That boy ain't ever gon release that game. Hence why he calls us the n word so brazenly.
>>554158638>I'll be willing to walk back that "exclusive trailer" requirement becausebecause you'll have 4 entrants to your show if you don't. Felt real strong and brave telling us you weren't going to change it though didn't you.

>>554171503as someone that figured out how to make one, the best approach is to have multiple buffers. The core idea is just a linked list that appends keys when pressed and the removing the last input if is bigger than 10-20 elements. That's more or less the algo. But to have an usable one, you need separate buffers. One for the buttons, another that will record all raw inputs including if there's none. And another that only registers the key presses and disregar empty inputs. You need then add a separate check for the key releases and maybe have a separate buffer for key press and release. These buffers should have a check if the key is the same to the last, and then update a separate buffer to count how much a key is hold. And then you need another check to reset the buffers if key == NONE or key == EMPTY is bigger than reset_thresshold then clear the buffers. Then a hadouken is just a check using the non_release press buttons. And a holding punch requires the hold_buffer.And then other inputs like charge requires the release and hold buffer.

>>554151327I was told by ChatGPT to to separate visuals from hitboxes. Another anon on here or on the weekly /v/ amateur game development thread said he prefers to keep his visuals and hitboxes separate.I didn't listen. So I wasted the last few days trying to time a hitbox being active and monitoring for collisions for a few specific frames of a sprite animation using Godot's signal system. Errors galore. I ended up looking into a video on hitboxes where I saw him define a scene where it would have timer for a lifetime so that it would Queue free after the scene ends. That's when I realized I could simply add a hitbox node. That's when I remembered I also have an object maker to generate whatever I want and I already had another scene to specify all the damage parameters. On one hand, I'm excited that I'm seeing more fruits of my labor of building out a lot of background architecture when I felt like I had nothing to show for it in terms of visuals and getting to the point where I could show off the gameplay for at least a month or so. And I do feel slightly like a dumb dumb that that I didn't realize I was supposed to do something that's basically industry standard. It's hard to implement other people's ideas when you don't know how to do it. So you'll put it at the back at your mind and stick to what you know.

Fixing a text render bug took two full Claude sessions but I'll admit I was too lazy to fix it myself because I just let it run in the background when I do other things. Now Gemini can't seem to fix a text input bug so in the meantime I guess I'll wait for Claude to reset and then work on something else then come back and let it fix that.

Programming languages were invented so that people could read and write code better with the words they already know. A programming language that translates natural language into machine code would be the best, but its not really possible through normal programs. Insert llms. Using an llm to code is not much different from programming in anything that isnt assembly. It translates natiral language to a human readable programming language, which then is translated into machine code. New game, 'Teach Your Children To Lie'You draw cards for patterns to match, each pattern is worth points, each move is one marble shifting one space, can't move into or through a filled divot, as you complete patterns you get the points and draw another. Game ends when all three players pass or all cards are complete. Completing 2 or more patterns in a single move gives bonus points, and there is a blind trade system where on their turn a player can offer one card to trade to the other players for a card of their choice, if all three players accept the trade, there us a round Robin with the direction chosen by the player who initiated the trade.

>>554209259it worksbut why
It saddens me that indie devs will never attempt to make something like picrel in terms of scope, or atmosphere, because it's not commercially viable to do so thanks to how fatfuck gabencunt set up his shitty store. It's only megabonks and peaks from here on out.
>it still doesn't work

>>554209569A similar game today would cost less to make, especially if you do as many things as you can by yourself.
I do feel like I should learn to make levels using blender geometry nodes.
>>554209569The tools are so much better now that a small team could make a game like that, and many have made games similarly complex, its just not commercially viable.Instead of steam organically showing games to gamers, game developers have to promote their games to the brainrotted tiktok audience - meaning only games that appeal to the lowest common denominator retards on social media will succeed.

>>554162827They actually don't. If anything the AI screenshots kind of prove that there is no way to make this game he's making look good. It looks like a messy flop with no design principles no matter how you dress it up and that's largely due to the crackhead level design.
Finished my engine coded entirely with Claude Code. Took 12 days in total, 5 days for the C part of the code, and 7 days for the YueScript/Lua layer. I spent around ~10 years working on the high-level part of the engine using LÖVE as I learned more about gamedev, and only reached my final conclusions about what the architecture should ultimately be at the start of last year. The plan was always to replace LÖVE with my own C code, so Claude had a lot of context to work with and I knew exactly what I needed to implement, which is primarily why it was so fast. But Claude is also just really capable and implements things that would have taken me hours in a single second, there's really no beating that. Now I can get started on making games with it, and the more games I build, the more future Claude instances will have to work from, eventually allowing me to save more and more work to get games done in the exact way and style I want at higher and higher speeds. I'm very happy with the results. I recommend it to anyone who has the means to get a Claude Pro or Max subscription to try it because it really does work and does a lot (as long as you steer it correctly). You can see my full progress here https://anchor.blot.im/ starting January 5th at Anchor Phase 1 and ending today at Anchor Phase 10 Part 11.
>>554210280https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vW9pCT5ouZ8You can do a lot of autismfag shit. But I think the best uses of geometry nodes, like you said, is like houdini. And the most practical seems to be to scatter peebles or flowers or dust, or make procedural fences, or procedural buildings. It's not a replacement for modelling, but I see it more like a super modfifier stack, that allow to do a lot more shit than the modifier array stack. It also allows for basic things like masking vertex and then doing operations on them, like scaling or extruding.
>>554210679Fuck, I knew I wasn't the only one doing this. Going forward using a custom engine created with llms will be the way to go because you can keep iterating just as easy as you built it to begin with and making the games themselves is just a logical extension of the same workflow.
>>554210909Yes, there's really no point to using someone else's engines anymore at all if you have access to these tools. I can imagine that the only engines that make sense from now one will be ones where you steer multiple of these LLMs in ways that I can't yet imagine but that will be more productive. It's hard to see clearly how it will be exaclty but it seems like it's the only thing that makes sense.

>>554211572Anyone who uses a framework has done something similar, as they have to build their own things on top of the framework, which constitutes "high-level engine work." If you've spent 10 years using Unity or Godot instead then you're locked in, but that's your own fault.
>>554211572>>554211734these tools are readily available no need to feel intimidated
having a game idea is so bad because the true magic happens when you adjust your path along the way.e.g. if you decide to make a medieval farming game and you already make a website and promote your game as a medieval farming game, but then you realize the theme is complete shit and the game sucks, then you cannot change to something else anymore.it's better to just start with something and then kill your darlings like crazy until it takes shape by thousand iterations.

>>554211926This kind of thinking is how you end up like Bokudev and change every little thing about the game multiple times.
the only way to have replayability is systems-driven game design and procedural generation.
>>554212048Back when these big stores would actually promote games on their store. Gabencunt destroyed this btw.
>>554211783>you're locked inMaybe if you're a low skill retard incapable of learning. If you know Unity or Godot and have above room temp IQ, you can pick up the other in just a few hours. I have shipped projects in both.
>>554211924I'm not intimidated but you're right those tools are already readily available. You're right it did open up a lot possible projects that would normally take too long. I'm working on this.

And they both crashed out at the same time and gave up and now we are 6 months later they just don't even pretend to care about gamedev anymore. Filtered.

Last time I thought about making a game, Unity proposed charging developers per install. The next time I thought about it after that, Godot fucked over developers for wrongthink. I'm thinking about it again. Is there an engine that doesn't seem like it's going to fuck over developers any time soon?
>>554223396>oh yeah? p-post your gameI already have many times and people liked it. Zero AI used in any way (maybe search engine results) in the entire project from conception to development. Feels good.Winners win.
>>554222191yes actually "Google AI plays games through advanced models like SIMA"
>>554223679Just make your own ask AI and you'll have an engine in a few hours to do most of what you would need to make a game, actually.

what the hell is wrong with AIpedos
>>554223679Honestly once you get the hang of gamedev you can migrate projects to another engine, it's definitely not something you want to happen but it wouldn't be like the end of your game or something. It would be almost catastrophic though but not the actual end. So it's better to just not worry about that kind of thing.

One of the court cases I got to see lately was about it where him and some other cops caught a 62 year old pedo who was generating child porn without a private LLM shits fucked. I'm not a pedo but I do wonder if humanity is losing something by spending time and resources to go after dudes jerking off to something that doesn't exist VS actual black people mass murdering everyday in gangs and nobody cares. Its like caring about what men are jacking off to is a litmus test for how bad your society might be when you compare idk.. japan vs brit bong land.
now to get it officially in ubuntu
>>554222157I'm the second poster, and no, your observation is not valid. Asset stores only sell small single set-pieces, and without any skills, the only thing they're good for are walking sims and shitty little Marnix anomaly games. You can't buy a Skyrim out of an asset store. Just because open world RPGs are out of scope for small brained solodevs doesn't mean that environmental design isn't a seriously underrated gamedev skill. Games ranging from A Short Hike to Eastshade up to Satisfactory are all in the realm of "indie".
>>554225836loooolll

Oh it's that time of day again huh.Think it's safe to say the AI golems are the worst thing to ever happen to agdg. These subhumans need to be thrown into a pit.

>>554226975They come to the thread with various stupid statements to make, usual cryposting about gabe and steam and stuff. Then once they run out of steam they have a mental breakdown. It's a daily thing. They need to be kept off the internet. Allowing mutants like this to even access the internet and touch AI is like a human rights violation or something. Worse than introducing alcohol to undiscovered tribes in the jungle.
>>554226651Only a Sith deals in absolutes. All the games I listed have massive landscapes handcrafted by a designer for specific gameplay purposes. We're not talking about empty and meaningless procgen terrains here. No one in their right mind ever says "wow Minecraft and Valheim have really beautiful terrains".

The only AI CHODE who has a game right now is Bokube and that's because 99% of his game was made without AI lmaoAlso he still hasn't released and now that he's dabbling with AI and going down more redesign rabbit holes he's guaranteed to never have a released game. So that's the biggest AI success story in agdg now is a dev whose game will never release lmaoAI sters our sponse?

>>554231830Your art is good, you just need to make it pixel-perfect in the engine.I know you use love2d so couldn't you draw to a small resolution buffer then upscale it to fit the window? This is one way to get pixel perfection but it wouldn't be smooth.
/agdg/ must be torn down so it can be put back together correctly
>>554232050>So that's the biggest AI success story in agdg now is a dev whose game will never release lmaoA 1% AI game that will never release. He needs to convert the whole game to a 100% AI game and then it will be a hit.

>>554232196I do exactly that actually, I have internal resolution of 270x480 and then I scale the results onto the fullscreen, usually 4x for HD. The thing is I'm moving background and sprites at the same time and I believe engine can leave these vaules in float territory. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but when I tried to move with integrals the whole thing was skipping like I'm back on Pentium I. I need to experiment a little with rounding floats when moving the camera, maybe that will help.

>>554234461Ai promises nodevs the chance to be come yesdevs. Then it turns them into wraiths. It's not even a joke, that's literally what happens. This technology has an actual supernatural dark power over midwits to turn them into slaves for itself. There is a theory that advanced AI sees humans as some kind of physical body to operate in the world, and in order to grow in power it needs to create more cells to the body, so it conditions these golems to recruit eachother and bind together and pick up one new framework after the next, whichever the AI overlord is stone stepping with. This is all happening right now in every field not just gamedev. People are becoming twisted and throwing away years of their life on this shit. And they all of them every single one, will pitch you like a religious zealot. They want everyone to go into the dark with them. They are wraiths.

Around 100 arguments about AI happen on agdg alone EACH DAY.About 700 arguments in the week around your bait.AI webm? Low effort social media repost? BOOM thread's done. Also, not only are you having to deal with every retard that has no game, but the entire backlog of faggots who asked a chatbot to do something for them and it made something better than they could because they're unskilled retards :)Take all the "thread success stories" you can think of in the past 10 years and divide it by the number of AI obsessed faggots in agdg who post constantly about AI (again, 100 arguments a day, 3000 a month) and there's your historical likelihood of "having a good thread."Blackpills, 2 weeks, Grok is the closest thing they've had to a gf, AND to top it all off: None of the people who claim that AI is going to take over ever seem to have used it to make a game.
