The switch to 3D literally killed this franchise, even going back to CS1 and CS2. Those two games were meant to be one game but it was too difficult to make so they had to split the game into two (and cut shit out of CS1 like the Ymir stuff). They can't do as much as they want in a single game because it's too expensive, so they can only move the plot forward so much or tell X amount of story in one game, but they still have it in their head that these games need to be 80-100 hours long, so they fill the game with filler meaningless dialogue and procedurally generated filler dungeons which is *cheap*. As the games sell less and less and they make less money with each entry, this becomes more of a problem. The reason why you spend every Calvard game in EDITH instead of going LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE is because the assets to build new locations are too expensive. The only way Falcom is ever going to solve this problem is by either making the games shorter or returning to isometric gameplay with 2D sprites. And if it was going to do this it would have done it a decade ago.

I thought people were exaggerating when they said Kai was the easiest game in the series but so far I'm astonished at how braindead it is on Nightmare. Most of the recent games haven't been particularly difficult on Nightmare but they've always at least put up a bit of a fight in the early game before you get your quartz and accessories set up. I've got next to nothing equipped and enemies are doing what feels like Easy mode damage at all times. And I just shred through field enemies like they're made of paper. There's almost no need to use ZOC and Awakenings and such because virtually no enemy lasts more than a few hits.

On a per language average, 4.9 divided by 5 is under a million per language while Horizon is 1.3 million per language, except realistically since Horizon was out in Japan for a long time before it came to the west it would have been mostly western English players.
