For some modded hairs i find turning off/adjusting MXAO or swapping it for SSAO (or turning it off entirely) is the play.I can't speak much more on it since I've only encountered it a handful of times (luckily the hair I use plays quite well). I imagine you could take one with and one without MXAO and swap the "clean" hair in with photoshop but I haven't tried it myself.As for resampling, I don't really notice a difference either, I think it's a bigger factor in upscaling anyway so I wouldn't worry about that aspect too much.
